First time at Hackney's. Late afternoon, no crowd. Wanted to try one of their burgers after visiting the Botanic Gardens. Ordered it med.rare and was served med.well (not fault of server.) Also the bun was right out of the 'fridge; not good to put an ice cold bun on a hot burger. A friend had the butt steak. Again ordered med.rare but served well done. Another friend had the bratwurst; loved the red cabbage but thought Johnsonville brats better than Hackney's.

On the plus side, the restaurant is very attractive and the server was very friendly and efficient. We also loved the fried onions! Almost made up for the rest. But next time I want a good burger I'll stop at Five Guys at Edens Plaza.

“Not as Good as My Husband Remembers”
Reviewed September 24, 2013

Ate here while visiting the area. My husband used to go here frequently for the onion ring loaf so he wanted to return, so we did. The onion ring loaf was great (tasty and greasy). The rest of the meal was just average except for the Talipia which was very good. The ribs have a very tangy/spicy sauce which was so-so and the hamburgers were ok. Really large place and I expected it to be too noisy but it was fine. The service was good.

“Great Ambience, Great Food, Great Time”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

This Hackney's is not as old as the Harms Road location but it is very charming with wood paneling and many different rooms to dine in. Some are very cozy and some are large. Whatever your whim Hackney's has the ambience for you. The menu is not large but there is something for everyone. Of course, the main draw is the famous Hackneyburger and fried onion loaf. Both are excellent. Even if you're watching your waistline you should give them a try. Large room for parties is available. A must try to add to your list.

“Great Family Reunion Event!”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

We scheduled a Family Reunion at Hackney's on Lake- and it was wonderful! We had 70 relatives coming and they gave us our own room. The room set up was terrific, the food was wonderful, and the staff were very gracious and helpful. Making arrangements for this event was easily done, they were very helpful. It was a perfect event and greatly enjoyed by all.

“Cozy lunch in a cozy booth”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Enjoyed a delightful lunch in a cozy booth in their cozy "middle" room yesterday. (Yes, they were open on Memorial Day--too cold & rainy for us to cook out)
My "salad special of the day" was fresh, flavorful and the dressing was excellent.
My husband enjoyed his burger on a pretzel roll with hot, tasty French fries.
Service was friendly and efficient.
