Great place to take young kids. Bit noisy which is normal with children. Many activities to keep them occupied.

“Always fun with the kids”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

My wife and I love to take our grand kids to this fine attraction. It is just instant fun for the little ones. So many things to see and do. The mini grocery store is always a big hit - but the real fun comes in the water room. You can easily spend an hour or two here. I have rarely witnessed a meltdown here - except maybe in the parking lot on the way out - but never with our precious angels. I would consider a membership if you are local and your kids are local (which ours are not).

“Great for young children”

We have taken our grandchildren often. It can be a bit loud and hectic from an adult perspective but kids love it. There are lots of hands on activities. The kids loved the vet and the grocery store. Allow plenty of time and try to include either the first hour or the last hour, when things are a bit less busy.

“Perfect rainy/winter day activity in Chicago's North Suburbs”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We live nearby, and it is a perfect destination on days when we can't play outside with our children. Our 3 yr old loves coming to the museum and gets very excited when we tell her we are visiting. It can get busy on the weekends, but when it rains or it is cold outside, what else is there to do? The Glen is across the street and has great food options before/after your visit.

If you plan to visit frequently, get a membership. We have visited on several occassions for less than an hour and you do not have to worry about not maximizing your admission.

“Very good museum for younger children”
Reviewed June 7, 2013

I grew up in the Boston area, with its Museum of Science and Children’s Museum. Those simply can’t be beat. But the Kohl museum stands up pretty well against that kind of competition. I still prefer the Boston options. Kohl is smaller and aimed more directly at younger children. But in that context, and in the Chicago area, it’s definitely worth a visit – or more than one. Grandchildren tested and approved!
