“Prices aspiring to be elegant”

$12 for breakfast eggs, toast and coffee seems a little silly. Tiny bites of sauces at dinner with trendy combinations of flavors. but fresh local ingredients and some organic foods.

“A Pleasant Surprise”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

We went to this restaurant because we were in the area and we could make a reservation on line, but we didn't expect much. Instead, we were very pleasantly surprised by the food quality and the presentation. We had the duck breast and the salmon and both were well prepared -- delicious. For desert, the creme brulee was a special treat. The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful and although the wine list was small, we found a nice, reasonably priced bottle. All this in a hotel restaurant.

Pass this place all the time and wondered if it was any good....well it is and now know the cars in the parking lot is for the restaurant not just the hotel! Service great, restaurant modern, clean and great to bring people if you want to chat! Everything we had was yummy, Mac n cheese amazing, pike fabulous, soup, perfect and banana foster outstanding! Martinis, beers wine all great and burgers were yummy! Gluten free, vegetarian options very plentiful...we will be back ans soon!

“Upscale casual for everyone, including the GF folks.”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

Tried Glen Prairie for a family gathering when we were in town on vacation. Decided we'd try this place as it presented a bit nicer of an atmosphere and had a lot of gluten free or gluten free potential options for my brother's girlfriend - she had never been to Chicago before and I wanted to be sure she would be taken care of.
It's an upscale casual place - you can do dressy or not, but either way you'll be comfortable. It is attached to the Crown Plaza, but unlike many restaurants that seem to suffer as a result of the proximity to a hotel, this one does not. From host to servers to our exit with pictures taken by the staff of our group, the service here was excellent throughout, contrary to many reviews here. Our server was extremely helpful and thorough in explanations of the menu, offering many suggestions and not simply steering us all to the steaks.
Food was all very good - do not expect traditional midwestern portions - this is fine dining style presentations, but not over the top and with enough food to make you full, but not so much you leave with another full meal for the following day. Items that we enjoyed - spring pea risotto, mac n' cheese, BBQ pork sandwich on brioche bun, strip steak, salmon sandwich, chervil crusted pike, maple leaf duck breast, etc. - not one comment about anything being bad, although my less than adventurous father was a bit thrown by all of the "weird stuff" on his sandwich (tapenade, watercress salad, etc.). They source many cheeses, meats, and other items locally which is always a bonus for me, and the wine list also features more "green" wines that are grown sustainably, biodynamic, etc.. Also nice was the fact that a place like this had a dedicated children's menu, so my 20 month old was accomodated the same as any of us. Dessert was ok, nothing to write home about, and I'd probably skip it the next time - pineapple upside down cake and a chocolate cake were both passable but not exceptional in any way.
For a party of 9 with varying tastes and comfort levels with this sort of dining, we really enjoyed our time at Glen Prairie - would return.

“Wonderful meal!”
Reviewed July 29, 2012

We had 9 adults and a child here for dinner; love the space, food was very good and service was wonderful. Our server brought the child meal out early, which worked out well. She and 2 other employees took photos of our group before we departed. Try it out when in Glen Ellyn!
