that is, the way this restaurant is run. Everything we've tried has always been above average. Service consistently very good.

“Good Food/High Prices”
Reviewed April 27, 2012

This place has great atmosphere, but the prices are a bit high for what you get. The food is good, but nothing really special. The atmosphere and location are the real winners here!

“Excellent food and service.”
Reviewed April 25, 2012

My wife and I came here for my birthday and we had an excellent meal. We had the muscles as an appetizer and they are very delicious. I had the 8oz filet with bleu cheese crust and it was excellent. The wife had the Ribeye and she said it was excellent as well. The staff there is very friendly and we never had an empty drink or bread basket!!!

“Very good food - but open up the wallet”
Reviewed April 2, 2012

Food and service are very good. It's just over-priced: the cheapest steak is $26. Cocktails are very large. Monday night is $5 burger night, so if you can't get a discount (Groupon) coupon that's a good night to go. Plenty of parking out back and some on the street, right on Rte 38 in downtown Geneva.

“Upscale dining with midrange food and poor service.”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

We arrived without reservations at an odd hour, 4:15pm, and the place was fairly empty. Normally we don't eat so early but we were coming home from another event, and decided to stop. The 3 gentlemen standing at the reception desk seemed too busy managing their empty restaurant to greet us initially, but eventually we were seated. None of the staff seems happy to be there which is sad for them, and depressing for diners. We ordered the brochette, two salmon salads for the ladies and the Napa Valley Chicken for myself. Meanwhile the server, Fran, who seems like a nice girl when she's not working at a job she hates, brought our wine and some bread. The bread is served warm, and is pretty good. The brochette is beef, onions and mushrooms in a teriyaki sauce. The ladies enjoyed the sauce on the vegetables, but I thought the beef was of poor quality. It was too chewy for my taste. The girls agreed regarding the meat quality. The salmon salads went over with no complaints, and the fish was cooked very well. The chicken was advertised as being stuffed with grapes and a cream sauce, but it was just a piece of chicken on the bone with some grapes and a cream sauce on top. The chicken was cooked perfectly, but overall the dish wasn't impressive. It sounded special on the menu, but on the plate it was just a smallish piece of chicken with mushy green grapes and a rather boring cream sauce slathered all over it. The salmon salads went over much the same way although expectations hadn't been raised too high for the salads like they were for the chicken. Our bill was $98 and included 3 glasses of wine which isn't horrible. So 1 appetizer, 2 dinner salads, and an entree. But for me the price is a little too high for the quality of the food. Again, the chicken and salmon were both cooked very well, but the dishes didn't rise to the level I was looking for. Then of course there was the unhappy staff, and I don't just mean the server Fran. Nobody seemed thrilled to be there, and the busboys were unhappy and poorly trained as well. But even if the service had been excellent, I wouldn't rush back for the food. There are plenty of upscale restaurants in Geneva so Foxfire needs to work on its game.
