We have eaten here many times over the past 20 years. This used to be THE Mexican restaurant in Geneva. Yes, back then it was about the only one, but it was very good. It was a small, family-operated restaurant and quite a lot of care was taken to prepare the food well. The service was by family members who were efficient and very welcoming.
Lately, however, things have changed. I'm not sure if the same family owns it, but if they do, they don't work there any more. Instead the staff seems to consist of a number of indifferent teenagers. They aren't exactly bad servers, but they're not good ones either. The place was slightly re-modeled not long ago. The once-comfy seating has been replaced by hard, cramped seating that is also too low for the tables. The food has suffered too. It's not bad, but it sure is not as good as it used to be. The quality of the ingredients and the care in their preparation is just not what it had been. Meats used to be a good cut, now they are fatty. Seasonings used to be more subtle and flavorful, now they are salty and overbearing. I am probably being more critical than I should be, but it's because I remember how it used to be for about 17 of the last 20 years, and now it's just not worth the price any more.
