We visited every week or so for the excellent food (recommended: Mini Sandwiches appetizer; Irish Cobb Salad; Black Forest Turkey Sandwich; Campfire Burger). The beer list inspiring...good variety of styles...high quality beers. The staff is friendly, enthusiastic and proud of their place--it's lovely inside, clean and well-maintained. "Like" on FB for the latest tappings and events.

Good appetizers and friendly sports atmosphere make this a good place to meet friends. Wait staff are knowledgable and willing to find your favorite sports channel.

The Ale House at 319 State Street in Geneva, IL has a good selection of both tap and bottled beers. And, if you're going for that it might be an okay place to try.

However, as far as food and service it has a lot to be desired.

Service is shotty at best. The first time we were there the waitress didn't even show up for about a half hour. This time, she was there but couldn't seem to get the order straight. If this were and establishment with a large varied selection, maybe one could understand not getting an order correct. But, basically it's bar food, hamburgers, a few sandwiches and the mandortory salad or two.

Whatever you do, don't think your burger will come rare! Medium to well is about their range. That's fine for a $3.00 hamburger at Dairy Queen or Burger King, but when you're paying upwards of $12.00 for Angus beef, one would think you might like to have a choice.

Oh . . . we tried discussing their so called "rare" burgher all this with the so-called manager who was in fact the bartender, but all she kept offering was to redo the burger. Great . . . another over cooked burger.

The Ale house is great for the beer and ale but the food and service are very stale!

I have found it had to find a place with a great beer selection and great food, but this place does it. Consistently rotating tap beer menu and quite the selection. Burgers here are my favorite, but its not just a burger place. They also have sandwiches, soups, and 3 or 4 fish entrees. This place is located right on main st in the heart of geneva and my top choice when I'm in Geneva.
