We stopped on a snowy evening for a meal and were seated immediately by the friendly hostess. We didn't wait very long for our waitress, although she felt we had waited to long and apologized for the delay. She took our drink order, which was trying a local Chicago ale and a Country House red ale. When she returned she explained the specials to us, and shortly after took our order. We chose the meatloaf special and the pretzel crusted pike. Both arrived in a reasonable amount of time and were delicious. The side choices are plentiful. Usually an up charge at other restaurants, the onion rings are a regular side choice here, so I had those and they were crispy and flavorful. Both of our meals were delicious, especially the pike. The beers were also very good, and the beer menu is extensive if you want to try others after your first. I have been here about 10 times for lunch, and this one time for dinner, and can heartily recommend it. Our waitress made the dinner delightful as she was upbeat and funny. Whenever we're in the area, we'll definitely stop here.
