“Quite good value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

This restaurant is truly "home cooking," nothing fancy, but good solid breakfast, lunch and dinners. A new feature is a two-choice or three choice option for lunch which features some nice options such as Greek salad. Perkins is renowned for their bakery. This you don't want to miss even if you are on a diet. Actually, dieters can scarf down their delicioius sugarless berry pie without guilt. However, their chocolate chip cookies and coconut creme pie are worth breaking a diet. Take the kids, take grandma--all are welcome at Perkins.

“Grease is the word!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 31, 2013

After a long break from Perkins because of undercooked hamburgers and rude service, we decided to try again. This is the way it seems to work with us and Perkins: Bad experience, long break, bad experience, long break, good experience, bad experience, long break, etc. (All good experiences either being fish dishes or breakfast.)

This trip we decided to do breakfast because it is their strongest meal. Not this time! We both ordered the potato pancakes. When the arrived after 45 minutes, they didn't look at all like the picture (which is to be expected at some level). However, they were full of grease and not fit to eat. We mentioned this to the waitress and there was really no reaction or acknowledgement. Maybe she didn't hear us? Maybe she was having a bad day? I don't know.

We asked for to go boxes because we set out food for the birds whenever possible (as opposed to wasting it). Upon checking out, the cashier/hostess asked us how the food was and I said that it was not good at all. Again, no reaction. She took my money and didn't say another word to me. This is, to me, an unacceptable way to act.

I am guessing that after a couple of months we will try Perkins again. This is the problem of living near/shopping in a town with so few options, especially in the morning.

“Pricey”

Food is good, but spending $10 for an omelette is ridiculous. Guess we'll have to wait until we're seniors and can get the reduced prices

“The place for breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2013

While visiting family we ate at Perkins for breakfast a few times. I had the french toast, and was very pleased. They also have a Monmouth muffin, which lives up to its name, and goes well with coffee. This restaurant is one of the better places to eat while in Galesburg.
