My husband and I stayed here while on business... everything about this place was great. My main reason for writing this review is because we accidentally left a small bag in the room upon leaving and we live over 3 1/2 hours away. We did not discover that we were missing the bag until we returned home late that day. In the bag was $200.00 cash. I thought someone would for sure just keep it. We called and the desk clerk said yes it was turned in and the money was still inside, we asked them to mail it which they did with all of it's contents intact! I am just so pleased that there are still honest people in this world and several of them work at the Stoney Creek Inn - Galena! The house keeping personnel and front desk staff all are to be thanked for their honesty in this case.

My husband and I stayed here for one night...very quiet and clean. We had one of the themed rooms witha fireplace...Very nice...it was spacious yet cozy. The only bad thing...there wasn't a lighted area outside the bathroom that was lit enough for me to do my hair and makeup while he was showering...if you want to call that bad. We loved it.
The complimentary breakfast is nothing to write home about either...but for someone like me to who wanted something healthy it did suffice. They had hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, yogurt...it was fine. Also very close to down town Galena a McDonalds(if you need something fast to eat), and the Harley Shop!

Wow. I booked a suite online and found they were having a special promotion that made the rate of a suite almost the same as the rate for a standard room. I decided to spend a few extra dollars and go for the premier suite, since I really like having a separate bedroom. Wow. We opened the door and were amazed at how huge the living room was. Beautifully decorated in a golf theme, it had a working fireplace, large tv, comfortable couch and chairs, and a nice work desk. There was also a kitchenette with a sink, microwave, full refrigerator, toaster, coffeepot and real dishes.

We went through the beautiful french doors and found the bedroom to be equally as impressive. A king size bed (Very comfortable sheets and mattress), a walk in closet, and a two person whirlpool, along with a good sized flat screen tv.

The bathroom was huge, with the crowning glory being a steam shower with two faucets- one on either side of the shower. Very luxurious.

We checked out the pool and hottub area but did not swim, since we had our own hot tub in the room. It was nicely done and appeared to be well kept up. There was also a sauna. The exercise room was also well kept up. Small, but had good quality equipment that worked.

The breakfast room was also very nice- the atmosphere was that of a nice cozy restaurant. Breakfast itself was standard hotel fare... bagels, breads, toaster waffles, boiled eggs, yogurt, oatmeal, cereals and biscuits and gravy. There was also a variety of juices and coffee and tea. One thing I appreciated was that coffee and tea were available all day long- I've found many of the hotels we've stayed at recently end the coffee service with breakfast. It's nice to have a hot drink when you're cold and wet from a very rainy day.

We did not have any problems with check-in or out, and really did not need to contact the front desk about anything during our stay, so I can't really comment on how the customer service is. However, I feel that the fact that we did not have any problems at all a sign of good customer service. The employees we did deal with were friendly and professional.

We absolutely loved our stay here and will definitely return. It's probably been one of our favorite hotel stays ever.

My wife and I stayed here over July 4th weekdend. All in all, it was a perfectly nice hotel. Our room was comfortable and clean with a nice bathroom, fireplace and jacuzzi tub. The disappointing thing was that the hotel website and many of the reviews we read made it sound like this is a quaint little "woodsy" small hotel off the beaten track. In fact, it's just a garden variety modern motel (think Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express) with a north woods/golf decorating theme (lots of bear statues and golf pictures), but it's located right on a main highway and shares a parking lot with a car dealer, a grocery store and McDonald's. So again, there was nothing wrong with the hotel. It served our needs perfectly. But if you're looking for nice little quaint woodsy remote weekend getaway (as we were), this is not the place.

Traveled to Galena with a group of (senior) adults on motorcycles, stayed overnight Fri & Sat (8/15 & 16) Throughout out stay the front desk was noticably understaffed with a line of guests standing, or waiting most times we walked through the lobby. Small bar / lounge area adjacent to front desk wasn't staffed at all - except for the overly busy desk person who had to take turns checking in guests and serving beverages! Overall motel decor and accommodations not nearly as nice at this location as the Stoney Creek in LaCrosse (where we stayed the preceeding night) AND at $30 / night more for Galena, the rooms seem way overpriced.

Second time we stayed at this place. Very comfortable room and amenities for the price. Hot tub and pool area clean and roomy. Very good continental breakfast .
Samll bar area for evening cocktails. Not too close to downtown area so plan to drive there. Wish they had a business center. Would be nice to check email. Not everyone travels with a laptop.

We just got back from a wonderful trip to Galena and the stay at Stoney Creek was wonderful and relaxing. We were greeted in our suite (we also had 2 toddlers) with a nice basket of a 1/2 pound candy, full bottle of wine, candle and champagne glasses (all of which we were able to keep). We don't like Merlot and the front desk changed the bottle so nicely. The staff were courteuous and friendly. Even though the hotel was completely booked, it was very quiet and relaxing. If I only have one complaint it would be the size of the rooms which were a little too small, but entirely managable. I would definately stay here again.
