Bill and I travel as the Odd Couple. Maybe it is because we like being a little corney, and a little bit crazy with having fun together. Either way, we really had a fantastic time in Galena visiting family, and intereacting with Amy. Amy works at the front desk, and her personality blends in with ours, leaving time only to laugh and talk about all the things we did during the day of visiting Galena, Dubuque, and Potosi. Amy always was there for advice, and ideas of things to see. Best of all was the large rooms, clean rooms, quiet surroudings, and good breakfasts. The pool and jacuzi were just what we needed after long days vacationing. Thank you, Best Western, and perfect representative, Amy! We will be back sometime before the snow flies! The Odd Couple, Bill and David

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet area..like away from the lobby.

Slightly overpriced for what you get. I expected the room to be a little nicer. They were clean, it just looked more like a $99 room than a $177 per night room. We stayed one night for a wedding we attended in Apple river, IL, which was about 35 min away. Our friends stayed in the Irish Cottage which was a little more, but a lot nicer. Overall, I would pick a different hotel to stay in next time.

Nothing fancy.. but simply decorated.. and cleanliness goes a long ways! Our room was exceptionally clean and spacious. I liked the idea of having a sitting area to just chill out and watch TV after a long day of shopping down Main Street. The patio was a nice bonus too. The breakfast they offered was your basic continental breakfast along with a different hot breakfast selection every morning. They had french toast one morning, biscuits and gravy the next, make your own waffles.. and so on. There was always hot coffee, even in the evenings. Everyone was very helpful and polite. The price on the rooms here just can't be beat. Very good experience. We will stay there again next fall.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a room in the back with a patio overlooking the woods.

This is a great hotel to use if visiting Galena. For the price, you get a clean and fresh hotel room. The beds were average but acceptable. The pool was a lot of fun. Both and outside and inside pool connected by a small doorway of sorts. Hot tub. Workout room. Lobby with coffee at all times and games to play by the fire. Very friendly/helpful staff and so close to Galena, your are downtown in less than 5 minutes.

The only downfall was thin walls. We had a rather noisy neighbor that kept us up all night. Cant blame the hotel itself for other peoples rude behavior.

Plan to stay here again!

Stayed here 1 night on the way to Mississippi. There are a lot of quaint, charming, expensive places to stay in Galena which could be a good option for a weekend stay but I was on a road trip and looking for reasonable price and adequate accommodations so this place was perfect. Room and furnishings were fine, nothing special but all clean and functional.

Do need to call out the desk clerk for great service though. There was major road construction on the main thoroughfare through town and the only way back across the river to the old downtown where I wanted to go for dinner. I asked him for an alternative route and he suggested a place I could park across the river from downtown and walk across the pedestrian bridge, skipping the drive across. Worked out perfectly, plus I discovered a corner of Galena I might not have seen otherwise!

Very close to Main St. we enjoyed the best western very much. Right on US20; it had a nice little pool, excellent breakfast (try the sausage) and a very spacious room. There are 2 places to eat within 1/2 block of the motel ( a pizza place and an Irish restaurant/lounge). There is also a gas station/store right next to the hotel. Even though the hotel was very small it was the perfect place to spend an evening or 2 when heading to Galena. We will be back.

Room Tip: some rooms have balconies looking into the woods; next time we will ask for one of them

While this is not a fve star hotel, the is te best deal. They have a military discount and they offer a full, hot breakfast included in the price of the room. I chose this hotel because of the free breakfast and the hot tub/pool. The room was clean, the TV was modern and larger than what I have found in most economy hotels. The mattress was very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. A great touch is most, if not all rooms have a balcony or patio.
Like a lot of Galena, this hotel is not completely handicapped accessible. There is no elevator, so if you are visiting Galena during tourist season, make your reservation early to get a first floor room of you need one.
