The service here was a bit salty for my taste. While the accommodations were ok, the bathroom was quite outdated and not clean. The toilet had been recently (and visibly, if you know what I mean) used, and one of the instant coffee packets was open. The woman at the front desk when we checked in must have had a bad day. She was curt and took a call while we were checking in, to make a reservation for someone else. The whole check in process took about 30 minutes even though we were the only people there.

The pool and hot tub aren't bad, although the space could use a major upgrade. The lighting is awful and the ceiling was leaking.

The continental breakfast was okay, but more than once the staff closed the doors and started cleaning up/taking food away while people were still seated. It was strange.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to let us know about the problems you had with your stay. I apologize that your experience was anything less than satisfying. Our goal is to not only meet the needs of each and every guest we serve, but to exceed your expectations and make your stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Please be assured that Management will be addressing the entire staff regarding the customer service issues and the housekeeping issues you experienced during your stay.
We’re sorry housekeeping clearly missed some key areas when you checked into your room, and had you called down to the desk, which is staffed 24/7, we would have happily provided another room that met ours and your standards, or personally cleaned your room ourselves then and there.
We’ve very sorry it seemed like it took a half hour to check in, and there is certainly no excuse for any wait, though only if we were experiencing system issues would it have actually taken that long. And when the desk is staffed late at night with minimum personnel, it can be difficult to check in guests and answer phone calls at same time. We appreciate your patience with our staff at such times and endeavor to improve the speed of our check in process.
Regarding the pool and hot tub, we are in the process of updating many of our hotel features, though we assure you, what you experienced was not a leaky ceiling, but in fact, condensation due to the humidity of the pool and the cold outside, as many people prop open the doors to the outside deck.
Regarding our continental breakfast, it is open from 7am to 10pm, though we will open it early for groups that request it, and we will wait til around 10:30 before we close. Guests, of course are welcome to continue sitting in our breakfast room and visit, but sadly we can’t keep it open all day. We appreciate your understanding while our staff cleans the breakfast room and goes about their duties.
Please know that your feedback is extremely valuable to us. Feedback such as yours assists us in improving our service and property on a daily basis.
We hope to see you again.
If we can provide any assistance, don't hesitate to contact us directly at 815-777-2043.

Needed a place to stay for some skiing at Chestnut mountain and we stayed at Country Inn before and liked it but this hotel had a really good deal at around $65/night and had decent reviews. The rooms were clean and spacious except the bathroom toilets were tiny. I consider myself pretty thin and I thought my butt barely fit on the toilet. The breakfast was blah...juices were too concentrated, eggs tasted like dry yolk and coffee was not that good so we pretty much stuck with waffles and cereal and milk. It had a nice pool and we didn't try the spa. Service was good. Location was close to Chestnut so it was good enough for us especially at the price.

On check-in, the hotel must have been experiencing some kind of system problems because the credit cards of 3 people in our party were declined in error. Courtesy of the front desk staff varied. Some areas of our rooms were obviously neglected in the cleaning process: items were found under the beds and behind the nightstands, the bathroom floor was sticky, and there was hair in the tub. Breakfast was so-so, and we had to ask to have items restocked. On check-out, we were charged more than the quote we were given. It was explained that this was due to having 4 people in one of the rooms, even though we identified needing a room for 4 when booking.

The beds were comfortable enough and we weren't disturbed by noises from other rooms. The Ramada is easy to find as you enter Galena and a short distance from the downtown area.

The cons win out over the pros. We travel to Galena often, but this was our first time at the Ramada. We will search for different accommodations on our next trip to Galena.

We are so sorry your check-in didn’t go as smoothly as possible. It is possible there was a system error at check-in either with our server or the credit card company’s system, sadly that is an issue outside our control, but we’re happy we were able to check your group in despite this, and appreciate your patience.
Regarding breakfast, when we are full on the weekends with groups and ski teams, it can be challenging to keep the breakfast stocked as quickly as we and as the guests would like, but we appreciate your feedback and will endeavor to keep it as stocked as possible during such peak times.
We’re also sorry that there was some miscommunication regarding your room rates. When making reservations for multiple rooms under one name, it can be easy to make an error when one room out of a group has different information from the rest of the group.
Please know that your feedback is extremely valuable to us. Feedback such as yours assists us in improving our service and property on a daily basis.
We hope to see you again.

We stayed in a suite with a Jacuzzi tub. The room was clean and quiet. The fireplace is a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.
