This is a great place to sit around and sample wine. The selections are delicious and the prices are great. Great way for couples to spend some time together.

“Nouveau an event to remember”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

What an incredible weekend for Galena Cellars and the Galena community. The Friday release of the Nouveau wine was fun, enlightening and full of flavor, especially the peasant stew served at Chef Ivo's Place located directly above Galena Cellar's Main Street retail location. Then later nearly 1,000 citizens and visitors lined the West side of Main St in an attempt to set the record for the longest toast.... Come again next year you certainly will not be disappointed. Oh, I nearly forgot most all of the restaurants featured Nouveau specials and select items of French cusine.

“Delicious ”
Reviewed November 6, 2013 via mobile

I'm a non drinker but I make an exception for their wine. It's fantastic. The grape wine and the moscato are delish!!! I've also bought several other items like wine glass and bottle topper. Very good prices!! Location is great.

“Total Package Vineyard close to town”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

About 14 minute drive from Galena, very picturesque. Quick tours available includes 2 glasses of wine. Great place to sit a good while sipping. Wedding facilities look awesome. Valley Views grand. Our guide was new and weak, but get a good guide and you enjoy the experience.

“Very friendly winery”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

This review relates to the actual winery at 4746 N Ford Rd (and not to the retail outlet in the center of Galena). It's not difficult to find, even when approaching from the Northeast (Scales Mound) and is beautiful situated on the Northern slope with views across. I went on a sunny late September day and joined the "tour" which had just started: in truth this was just one of the senior employees sitting having a leisurely drink with two others who had also turned up for a visit. After a while we went and looked at the vines that hadn't yet been harvested; into the production area; met the owner's daughter; saw the bottling line; sampled a couple of extra wines not included in the official tour ticket; and generally had a pleasant hour or so. The wines themselves are perhaps a little expensive for the quality; you are paying something of a rarity value for well-made Illinois wine, some using local grape varieties. Still, it's highly recommended for wine lovers, especially for Europeans who rarely see North American wines other than mass produced Californian ones.

One warning: if you're planning to drive afterwards, please think carefully about how to visit, as they are hospitable to a fault, and welcome the opportunity to talk about wine with visitors - more like meeting a friend than a commercial tour.
