The Courtyard restaurant in Galena's DeSoto House Hotel is a great place for breakfast, before you begin a day of shopping and viewing the sites of one of the nation's most historic communities. It is an attractive location, the ground floor of an enclosed four-story atrium with 19th Century paintings on the walls and antique fixtures. They serve breakfast daily, lunch on Saturday and Sunday. But the Sunday breakfast buffet is to die for. Usually, I'm not one for buffets of any kind. Too much food. I always fill my plate to overflowing. I feel guilty if I don't choose something of everything on the table. But the Sunday breakfast buffet at the Courtyard is a real treat that can't be passed up...pancakes, Belgian waffles, eggs, omelets, fresh fruit, sausage, bacon, ham, cereal, danish, coffee, juices. More than you can eat. Fast, friendly service. All in a very relaxing atmosphere. And at a reasonable price.
