If you're looking for live entertainment--and especially if you're willing to take a risk on your acting chops--this dinner theater is an excellent option in Galena.
The dinner service is on point, the food was tasty, and the drinks were plentiful.
The program's host, Scott, formerly worked as an actor in Chicago, but became interested in solo productions, and then in the challenge of improvisational theater. The Lamplight Dinner Theater is his creation, and his passion for the concept makes for an engrossing show. He uses unsolved cases in Galena's past as the premises for his mysteries, and he includes patrons as main roles or detectives. Everyone can be involved. Scott narrates and directs traffic, as it were.
I've run interactive film screenings, so I wondered how Scott would manage a bunch of amateurs, including myself. He fed us situations smoothly, so there weren't any awkward silences during the dinner when someone didn't know what to say. He's got an excellent sense of humor and he responded well to what the audience gave him.
Next time my girlfriend and I are in Galena, we'll absolutely check in to see if Scott has a new show going. Can't wait!
(NB: Regarding TripAdvisor's pricing breakdown, I selected "Fine Dining." The food was good, don't get me wrong, but remember that you're paying for dinner AND A SHOW.)
