“Okay lodge, but too expensive if you are not playing golf.”
Reviewed September 9, 2013

The place is very nice for quiet time by the lake.
The rooms are not brand new, but well kept and the mattress/pillows/linens are
Of the very good quality.
Positive: hotel service is good, restaurant, coffee shop and convenient stores on the property;
Lots of scenic walking trails, pontoons to rent.
Negative: room was very expensive even with TravelZoo deal I purchased($18 daily resort fee plus tax), spa services are super
expensive($55 for pedicure), no outdoor pool or the beach area; no entertainment at night (everything closes in Galena at 10pm on the weekends and 8pm on the weeknights).
Bottom line: if you not a golfer or the traveler who likes very quiet country retreat, this is not a place for you.

Have stayed at Eagle Ridge many times since the '80s but haven't been there for five years or so. Read some reviews which suggested that it may be "aging" but I found it to be as pleasant as ever. The third floor king bed room had a massive stone fireplace and deck. Everything was clean, comfortable and worked fine. The food in the main restaurant was very good and the build-your-own pizza from the lobby café deserves special mention. No bugs were seen wandering in from outside and there were no spiders (mentioned in some other reviews). The staff was friendly - without exception. This was a business trip - I hope to be back soon for some leisure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor of the "annex" and you'll need directions to the eleva...

My girlfriends and I stayed at the Eagle Ridge resort the last weekend in June. We had a great time in the city of Galena and we loved staying at the resort. Our place was a townhome/condo with two bedrooms and an extra sofa sleeper. It also had a full kitchen, which we used for breakfast each day. It had a patio with a grill and we sat on one of the greens of the golf course. The whole place was picture perfect. We ate a light lunch at Woodland's bar and grill. It was delicious. We had dinner on our last night at Spike's -- we thought it was a traditional sports bar, but it was much lovelier than that. Our table was right next to the huge window that overlooked the General golf course. Our food was fantastic, as were the bloody marys.

Overall, it was a great experience.

Good Afternoon Heather

I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the Director of Sales and Marketing for Eagle Ridge Resort and Spa. I also want to thank you for taking the time to write a review on our resort.

Based on your review it sounds like you had a great time and we look forward to having you come back sometime of the course of 2014. There are so many great things to take advantage of while at our resort even if you are not a golfer. With over 26 miles of hiking and biking trails to a casual pontoon boat ride on our lake and of course the Stone Drift Spa for a quiet massage.

Thank you again for staying with us!

Stayed Labor Day weekend at almost 400/night for a duplex cottage. Room seemed very outdated. Toiletries for that price included a small piece of soap and a small shampoo. Tv had basic cable. When we checked in we enquired about dinner and made reservations for hot air balloon rides. The rides were cancelled by them-the person did not reschedule us during our stay ,which was very disappointing !that was supposed to be the highlight of this vacation . The guy was very rude! The food was at best near an Applebee's at their most expensive restaurant ! The resort is in the middle of nowhere and has no activities to do. The resort store is way overpriced. We had to drive to Galena for everything including food and activities like a Mississippi River cruise! They had not even cleaned the rooms when we returned! There was a bag with towels lying outside the door. When I called customer service, the boy who answered said that's the way it is. When I asked if 400/night did not include housekeeping , a lady took over and transferred me to housekeeping . Two people then came over to clean! What if I did not speak ?
Save your money . We thought this was an exclusive place charging 400/ night. It's NOT! It's like a cheap motel spread out on land. Couldn't even see a pool nearby! You'll do much better at the nearby motel! I heard each unit is owned separately - don't know if we got a lemon, but the "resort" and customer service isn't nice either! Don't let the words resort fool you!

We stayed in August 2013 for a wedding and stayed in a rental home on the property. I was very impressed by all of the services and amenities onsite and all of the interactions we had with staff were superb.

Definitely a must see and experience.

Rented several guest rooms for a wedding. The doormen are exceptional to the point of being annoying. Front desk staff is spotty. Some are excellent, others clueless. It was a very hot weekend and The Honeymoon Suite had no A/C on the couple's wedding night and no one knew how to repair it until late the next morning. Housekeeping ignored "Do Not Disturb" signs and tried to enter rooms on several occasions. The restaurants have excellent food, the outdoor appearance is beautiful and the golf courses are immaculate. We rented two rooms for a party function and the staff started cleaning up when we still had 30 minutes left. Guests got disgusted and left early. Finally, they should not bother telling guests they have Wi-FI. It is slow and useless and you frequently lose signal. Absolutely pointless. I've stayed in far worse places, but for the premium dollars spent here, it is not worth it. This could be so wonderful out here, but attention to detail is sorely lacking. Save the $$ and go to one of the local charming bed & breakfasts.

Went for a golf weekend with another couple. The stay did not start out well when we had to wait what I thought to be a very long time to check in. "It's the start of the weekend and we are very busy", we were told. I would think they would plan ahead for that. Then upon check in our villa was not ready, so we went to our spa appointment. When we returned we found out they had no more villas available and sent us to a smelly townhouse which we refused. They finally found a house for us, but still long time checking in. The golf courses are beautiful and well maintained. On our second day golf round, we asked if we could play the front 9 again, rather than play the back 9 as it was getting backed up and it looked as if the front was wide open. To me it was a simple "yes" or "no". However, they made such a major production for the request. Given the front was totally empty, I did not think it would be such a big deal. They let us play, however I did not appreciate the attitude.
