This one is like a "Cheers." The locals refer to it as "The Steer." No frills, no pretense. Just a nice friendly place where people go after work to wind down. If you're at the bar, be ready to laugh and enjoy the people. Wide variety of entrees. Great steaks, pork chops, lamb, BBQ ribs, etc. The french onion soup is a must.

Good food and a great value. Excellent burgers. Especially the blue cheese burger on rye. All is included in the price. French onion soup, salad, entree, potato and veggie. Even dessert if you have room. Old school steak house with velvet decor. If you are in the area stop in but make a reservation, otherwise you'll wait an hour.

We always enjoy our food when we visit The Steer. The decor is very dark and dated and the wait staff, while friendly, is a little rough around the edges. Closed on Sundays and very busy on the weekends, so try to go on a weeknight for immediate seating.

We visited on a Friday night. We had reservations at 7. We were seated immediately. Service was spot on, everything was paced perfectly. We both had the prime rib special. The onion soup was still bubbling when it was served - it was the best we ever had! The salad was plain, but it was fresh, not from a bag! It was cold, fresh and the dressings were very good. The sides-a baked potato and cottage fries were both served piping hot. The cottage fries were perfect, slightly crispy on the outside, fluffy and hot on the inside. And the main event, the prime rib, was at perfect temperature, and so tender you could cut it with fork. We were visiting, and we talked about making the trip once a year just to go there again. You can't go wrong trying out this place. Highly recommended!!
