“Lovely little break - a slice of times gone by”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

I (43) visited Corton with my mother (71) in mid June. We had a premier suite and stayed for 4 nights on the sun, sea and laughter break. I've never been anywhere in this vein before, apart from Center Parcs so I was reasonably wary.

I'm reasonably well travelled and eat out regularly and have an active social life (so that you are aware of who is reviewing). However my mother is very quiet and keeps herself to herself and isn't comfortable going to pubs or winebars in the evenings. We found Corton to be an ideal compromise for us to spend 4 days in each others company. The suite was basic but clean, spacious and modern - with daily cleaning service. Parking is closeby. We had to climb stairs with our cases so beware of what level of suite you book (but we were offered help with our cases on check in)

It was a shame that the cliff-top had been fenced off (due to a landslide) so you couldn't access the beach, but the views are magnificent. The food at Corton (especially the breakfast) was a good standard. You do have to sit down with a couple of hundred people so sometimes they run out of your choice from the menu, or a type of wine. However their is plenty of selection and although I found the choices slightly heavy, there were British classics and some more eclectic selections. We were shown to our table when we first arrived, and you are allocated this, and your waiter for the entirety of your stay. Our table which was far too much on the outskirts with limited view of the stage - so we changed that, with very little fuss at all from the management staff. I would recommend you ensure you get a good seat at the outset. Our waiter was lovely, very friendly and attentive - was rushed off his feet all the time but did his best. The resort could easily do with about 5 more waiters a night. The weather wasn't brilliant when we went so we decided to have a day out of the resort - in Southwold which is 1/2 hour drive away - and the resort offer you a coach trip if you want to go. Also close by (5 mins in car) is Gunton Hall (another Warner Holiday Hotel with swimming pool) which you can visit free of charge. We had a mini massage and a facial (£35 each) which was o.k. but I have had a lot better, and the room was quite shabby.

Overall the average age here was about 70 and there's enough to do if you are proactive. We booked Archery and Rifle shooting (free of charge). There is mini-golf, boules, bowles, and jenga as well as a small swimming pool. The entertainments team work very hard to keep things going all day long. The evening entertainment, I have to say far exceeded my expectations especially the Musicals evening. A very high standard. There was also a comedian (very tame and non-offensive) one night. There's plenty of opportunity for dancing, once you've had 15 mins of bingo and a little game with audience participation. You can either ballroom dance or wait until that's finished and there's a house band and then a disco.

Overall I think we had excellent value for money and it served the purpose for us above and beyond, but I wouldn't be attending as a couple with someone of my own age, nor recommend it if you are expecting fine dining, or center parcs. If you have any questions please ask.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

Thanks you for your wonderful review. It is always so pleasing to hear such lovely comments and we hope to welcome you at Corton again sometime soon. We regularly hear brilliant feedback about our opportunities to dance whether it is traditional ballroom dancing or just having a boogie on the dancefloor. I hope you've had a chance to try our " Do you Warner Dance?" workshops which are fun dancing workshops which run through the day for those wanting to learn a few extra dance moves.

We stayed four nights at warners hotel in lowestoft. Corton is the smallest site but has upgraded the chalets and they nare very good if compact. /
I understand the clifftop chalets have two rooms which would be worth considering.
Friendly staff gves the place a lovely atmosphere -and guests can book a table near the dance floor -at crton you eat dinner at the same room as they do the dancing and activties.
the weather was wet cold and nasty but there was plenty to do indoors and the entertainment team were faqbulous.

My wife and I have stayed here several times over recent years both as a couple and with friends and we rarely have cause for complaint. Any little niggles with rooms are dealt with quickly. Food - good selection and tasty. As it's adults only there are no noisy children and limited disturbing ringtones from mobile phones. If you can get the drinks inclusive package you're set for a perfect break. Have never paid full price preferring discounted price via late bookings or email special deals and at discount price it's always been good value. Lowestoft only a refreshing hour's walk away and good chance for a bit of shopping.

We would give this complex a thumbs down. The weather didn't help.
The service in the restaurant was abysmal, untrained staff with no finesse.
Room was average in size but as we were on one of the blocks of rooms we suffered noise from our neighbours on both sides. The walls are so thin that you could hear loos fluhing, showers operating and TV's . So quite unpleasant. We did not enjoy good sleeps.

Room Tip: Choose one of the more expensive chalet type, I think they call it premium rooms

A group of us decided to celebrate a 60th birthday at Corton. I had booked a standard plus room for approx. £400 for 3 nights, two people. Warner's rang me a couple of weeks before offering a room upgrade to a Cliff top Lodge for £90 extra for 3 nights instead of the usual £90 per night. I was so glad we did! The cliff top lodge was lovely. The bed was really comfy, the linen and pillows were great. The lounge was small but nicely decorated with everything we needed ( although a fridge would have been good!) We were checked in quickly and shown our dining table for the weekend to check if we were happy with it. The food was fine, there was a choice of cavery and 3/4 other choices each course every evening. The service was good and the food hot. The breakfasts were also either a buffet full English or a selection from a menu. We had the buffet and eggs benedict both of which were really good. the only issue with the dining was it was quite restricted times-8.30-9.30 for breakfast or 6-7 for dinner. I suppose it's the joy of catering to the masses. We played crazy golf, archery and shooting , all of which were good fun.
All the staff were so friendly and efficient. The bar prices were expensive but again all the staff were great. The entertainment was a mixed bag. the special visiting guests were very good and the resident evening performers were fine although during the day it seemed every time we sat down for a quiet drink the entertainment team set up behind us and rattled out some loud off key tunes. The older folks seemed to enjoy it but I found it a bit intrusive but each to their own! I visited friends in their standard chalets and was glad we had upgraded. The rooms were clean but dated and ,to be honest, a bit depressing .On the whole, we had a great time.

Room Tip: if you can afford it, book a cliff top lodge

I have just had a weekend break. Friday to Monday. This hotel has a lovely position facing the beach. I have been there many times. If you want a relaxing few days. Value for money is at Bembridge. There is something going on all the time. Evening entertainment. Most enjoyable.
Ther are many places to visit on the I.O.W. that are value for money.

Room Tip: We upgraded, we had a ground floor room with our own patio and sun all afternoon. Room 37
