The Best Western University Plaza in Evanston is a great hotel. Most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel is very convenient to the train station - just two blocks away. Very satisfied with my stay there - thanks!

Excellent place to stay if business is on NWU campus, etc. Good value. Clean, comfortable room. Good breakfast amenities. Garage parking is expensive; however, very convenient. Easy walk to campus. Would highly recommend and I would stay there again.

Checkin was a disaster and the person on the desk clueless. The rooms are dated but clean. The only problem is there is not enough plugs in the room for today's accessories. One plug in bedroom area. Breakfast was you average continental I loved the location there were plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance. The workout area had enough equipment in good order. The pool is on the third floor and is very nice.

Hotel Room was very clean as well as the bathroom. Employees were very helpful. Great location for safe historic area of Chicago. Lots of shopping and eating places. Very safe to walk around the town. Would like to see a better price deal on the hotel and would like the locks to be updated.

Best Western Chicago Evanston

We arrived really late in the night due to delayed flights and were greeted by a lady who was polite and quick to check us in. The first impression was one of a dated. gloomy hotel but it did not matter as the room was averagely okay with two queen sized beds and all working in it.
Amenities provided was a coffee/tea maker, little creature comforts required when we travel. On request the hotel allowed us a one hour later check out which was appreciated but then most hotels in U.S.A allow that unless a group is checking in or it is peak season.
Functionally all seemed to work. Close to Northwestern University, decently priced, a place to stay. Until. I had an hour wait in the lobby for my family to return. It was an important moment as the Royal Baby was just about to make his entry to the public world. The very polite concierge waited for me outside the room but we finally left as Prince George was indeed taking his time to be carried out by his parents. Undeterred i felt quite sure i could sit down in the breakfast hall and watch the rest of this downstairs instead of the lobby. It was after all a small maximum ten minute watch so off i went eager to catch his entry like the rest of the world. It was then that all my impressions of this hotel fell flat. I was not allowed to enter the breakfast room as it was locked and would not be opened till next morning and that was the rule. I requested decently, explained the historic moment which was being created but the man at reception wouldn't budge. It made me feel as if i was in a high school residential building with strict rules and regulations. It also made me sad. That a hotel industry could be so insensitive and hard about a very small need of a guest? We leave home and trust hotels to look after us. To feel secure and with a need for hospitality. But this was so petty so strict so unfeeling. It was the sympathetic attitude of the very friendly absolute gentleman concierge which made me feel a bit better. I think he needs a promotion to manager level as his attitude is just right for a hotel industry. He could give a few tips to the men at reception. Letting a guest watch ten minutes of a world celebrated moment is too much for a hotel? A very substandard, inferior standpoint indeed. Next time round i will look for another where i feel wanted and cared for by the industry. Would advise you to do the same.

I stayed here for a week with my parents to coincide with my brother's graduation from Northwestern University. We booked a year ahead and found most other places in Evanston already fully booked - graduation week is busy!

I've stayed in Best Western properties before and they vary in quality. I didn't have hugely high hopes for this one so I wasn't that disappointed. In fact, the room was quite spacious with 2 queen beds which were very comfortable. Unfortunately the bathroom is definitely in need of updating - there was no fan so it always felt quite damp (after showers etc.) and never all that clean.

Breakfast - absolute rubbish and didn't change the whole week we were there with the same sad pile of reconstituted scrambled egg and mystery meat burger patties served every day. Fruit was available but quick to disappear and slow to be replaced. I stuck to having a bagel or yoghurt.

Facilities - gym is tiny with just 3 or so machines but does the job. Self-service coin laundry was handy since we were staying a week - you can exchange money at reception if you don't have enough quarters.

I should also note the elevator/lift broke down twice while my parents and I were in it. It was never for very long and we were never on a high floor so didn't feel that dangerous, but that kind of thing shouldn't happen! The staff were never that apologetic about it either so I think it happens a lot.

Basically, yes stay here if you need to be in Evanston and want somewhere convenient walking distance to anywhere downtown/Northwestern University. Otherwise don't bother, it's not one of their better properties.

Lousy on all counts: breakfast, service, appearance, parking, room decor very cheesy. Parking was $14 per night in a parking lot perched at the top of an unbelievable driveway! There were very few spaces as so many (always empty) were given to wheel chair parking. The breakfast was of very cheap quality and very heavy on starches (toast, cereal, bagels, muffins, small danish, etc.). Scrambled eggs were available, but not hard boiled eggs. The room decor was gloomy and obviously very old and in need of updating.
