“Enjoyable evening”

We loved this place. Friendly people and nice decor. We just had pizza and two salads, but it was very good. We will be back.

“"A specially nice evening"”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2014

Four of us were looking for a quiet place to have good food and service. We wanted to actually talk with each other in normal tones without going into the high price range for our meal. Mission accomplished!
Arrived at 5:30, seated at the round, 4 top; left filled with good food, drink and conversation at 8:30. (It was not crowded so this was possible.) Our waiter greeted us with a warm, "I'm ___, and I'll take care of you tonight." He did take care of us with attention, humor and excellent timing.
The wine and mixed drinks were very good. The food was also really good: fried calamari appetizer was lightly breaded and cooked so it was still tender - the sauce lovely. Bread was fresh whole wheat with crunchy seeds; my lamb chops were really med rare, generous size and delicious; broccoli was fresh, tender and bright green; 2 swordfish and a pasta entree were also enjoyed at the table.
Our collective past experience here was mixed with some outstanding and some VERY moderate meals. This one was quite satisfying all around.

“Great Pizza”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

One of my favorites in Evanston. The pizza is good and the environment is relaxing. Good Italian wine list.

“Wonderful pizza if you like NY style”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 2, 2014

Love this place, a great neighborhood restaurant with very good Italian dishes and the pizza is fantastic. My partner is a New Yorker and everyone knows about the rivalry about Chicago vs. NY pizza. He has been a snob about having Chicago pizza but thinks this is the best he's had in Chicago. Great selection of different kinds of pizza, nice selection of pastas and other entrees. We are somewhat "regulars" and always ask to sit in the section where Tina works. She has been there since the place opened and is wonderful. For a neighborhood place with delicious Italian food, this is the place to go.

“Nothing to write home about”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

We live in Evanston and had heard their pizza was GREAT. Nah. Go to Lou Malnatis or Union instead. The Napoli pizza had flavor the artichoke/eggplant one did not.

The crust could have been crisper. Just meh.

Our server was nice, the wine was good, too
