All you have to do is visit Lupita’s and you will understand why it is a local favorite. The atmosphere is friendly, service attentive and food much better than Mexican fare served by the chains. Each of our group of four ordered different dishes and were pleased with our choices. We will certainly consider returning the next time that we are in the area.

So my husband I are in love with Mexican food and we have been looking for a new place. We had went by this little corner place several times so we decided to stop in with our 22 month old and while the restaurant was clean looking it was a little dull. We were seated and they brought us salsa and these thick greased absorbed chips that where made of flour tortillas. They where sick!! If you wanted corn tortillas you had to know to ask as the table next to us did or you had to pay for them if you wanted another bowl of salsa or basket of chips. Which any Mexican place I have every been they never charge extra chips or salsa. Then we ordered our food 13.50 for a burrito. It was the size of a taco and had no flavor. The best part was if you payed cash you recieved 5% off. Lol so 2 dinner side of rice and side of beans which were good. the guac tasted off (old or something) came to 32.00 no drinks with tax and percentage off. So as you can tell we will not be back and we are on the search for a true authentic Mexican restaurant in the northern suburbs of Chicago .

Begun by Lupita many years ago, this restaurant is an Evanston institution. The service is friendly, the food consistently fresh and delicious, the restaurant is spotless and the generous servings allow time to visit with friends while dining. Over the years I have eaten there innumerable times for lunch and dinner and have never been disappointed.

The salad greens are crisp and fresh, the basket of homemade tortilla chips never greasy, the guacamole has just the right amount of spice in it, everything on the menu from flautus to fish is excellent. On the weekends they have live guitar music.

Lupita's is a family run restaurant that serves real Mexican food, not he "American version". The margaritas are perfect, the guacamole is divine, the chips are homemade. The specials are always special. The staff greets visitors with warmth and caters to every need. On some evenings there is music. It is a delightful family friendly restaurant. Whenver I have visitors this is where I bring them.

What a wonderful surprise to find this excellent family-run Mexican restaurant! Located right next to the Main Street train station in Evanston, the varied menu met the needs of our family. Three entrees were selected: chicken enchilada suizsa; vegetable fajitas and vegetable burrito. All came with beans and rice. The enchiladas and fajitas were outstanding; the vegetables in the burrito were a bit overcooked. On-street parking. Lots of local shops to visit as well including Dave's Rock Shop.
