“A New Favorite!”
Reviewed July 4, 2013

We recently happened upon the Bluestone for a luncheon date and were impressed with the service, the food, and the ambience. We decided to go back a few days later for dinner and were "wowed" again! It was crowded, but not uncomfortably so. The service was still great and the food outstanding. We'll be back!

“Nice neighborhood place”
Reviewed June 29, 2013 via mobile

Though we live approximately 20 miles from here, we try to eat here a couple times a year. For me the draw is the pizza, but the other dishes are also very good. This is bar food, but very good bar food. Service is great and so is the ambiance. If you are visiting the Northwestern campus, Bluestone is worth checking out.

“Nice menu, good service, but noisy sports bar”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

i eat inside during the winter, but prefer to be outside when the weather is nice. Good menu, nice service but I find the sports-theme & TV noise distracting. Still think it's the best spot in N Evanston.

“Easygoing”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

Family-friendly, easygoing neighborhood spot with tasty comfort food. The tortilla soup, pot roast, BBQ meatloaf, and salmon shine, but iceberg salads are merely pedestrian. Varied, high-quality beer selection. Customer service is consistently good. Great place to relax and watch whatever sport is in season. When busy, there is unmistakable, contagious energy to Bluestone.

“The "Cheers" of Evanston”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

Bluestone has a homey come-on--in kind of atmosphere. Every time I stop in (pretty frequently), I'm only one of many locals running into neighbors and Northwestern University sports figures. But that doesn't mean newbies will feel out of place. The friendly owners are often in the dining room, greeting guests, sharing a story and checking that all is well. Absolute favorites include the ultra-thin crust pizza and the Italian beef sandwich, which are carry-overs from the owner's old place on Western Ave in Chicago (we followed the owner from the Candlelight to Bluestone when he opened it 12ish years ago). This isn't a snooty haute cuisine restaurant, but some of the specials are excellent. Also in the not-snooty vein, kids are always welcome, although they really clear out by bedtime around 7.30pm. A late evening dinner can be downright romantic next to the picture window and fireplace. The bar area is fun and great for watching sports. Servers and busboys are experienced professionals who care about your comfort and satisfaction. Some have been with the owner for many years. Without a doubt, I'll be a regular until I can't chew my own food.
