“Um-Um Good No Bout A Doubt It....”
Reviewed August 26, 2012 via mobile

Busy Sunday morning but the staff was quick professional and knew their job. Everything was fresh hot and tasty but the apricot flaky was not to be missed. Oh, don't tell the Rabbi but the bacon would do honor to any pig.

“A REAL DINER!”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Funky place with colander-"chandelier" lighting and 60's collage menu covers. They do breakfast and lunch with a somewhat small menu, but REALLY good food. Two of us had the "benedict" eggs--florentine was really good--sundried tomatoes, spinach, ham, and the other had the fried green tomatoes eggs benedict which was served on a tomato saute. All the eggs benedict are served on toasted corn bread, which is very good.

The coffee is quite good, the service is diner-great, fast, steady and friendly.

No reservations but when we walked in there were a few tables ahead of us, but the wait was short and well worth it.

If we were going to be here another few days, we would make sure to do lunch too!

“Kitschy atmosphere and great food”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

I love coming here for a late breakfast on the weekend. The food is great and the decorations keep me interested. They are quite creative, in a recycled kind of way. The lampshades are made from old colanders and the ceiling has rolled up aluminum foil.

“Fantastic Food in a Great Environment”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

My husband and I recently visited Chicago and had lunch one day at the Lucky Platter (in Evanston). What a charming place! Loved it. Funky ambience and delicious food. The corn bread is a MUST and the tuna melt was amazing. The prices were very reasonable and the service was very good. If I lived in Evanston or close by, I would be a regular customer at the Lucky Platter!!

“Eclectic Comfort Food”
Reviewed August 7, 2012

It is really hard to characterize the Lucky Platter. Parts of the menu have Indian overtones (e.g., tandoori chicken), but they also have stroganoff, steaks, super salads (with a very eccentric collection of salad dressings), and burgers. The decor is a combination of garage-sale paintings and very clever and whimsical metal statues. The light fixtures are inverted collanders decorated with balls of aluminum foil. The prices are very reasonable, including the modest selection of wines, and the features dishes rotate with the seasons. Very satisfactory service.
