We enjoy visiting the Coffee Lab whenever we're in Evanston. We've visited several other coffee shops in Evanston but this is our favorite.
It's only a few blocks from campus in a very quiet area. The staff members are wonderful. The coffee is prepared with the pour-over method. This will take longer and, if there is a line, expect to wait a while. It's actually quite interesting to watch them at work. They use methods you wouldn't ordinarily see.
The coffee is quite good. I believe they use the Intelligentsia brand. Their hot chocolate is also excellent. My wife doesn't drink coffee and she said the hot chocolate was the best she's ever had. Both the coffee and the hot chocolate are a little pricey, but we believe it is worth the extra cost.
Their seating area is secluded. It has nice (but not pretentious) music and there are free books from a local organization which they allow you to take, if you like.
We have great memories of the Coffee Lab and we hope to visit many times in the future.
