“Great food, rude servers”
Reviewed February 2, 2009

I think the servers here are really rude. We went here for my husbands birthday, and we literally waited for 12 minutes before anyone came to our table, and then the waitress did not even apologize, which I found to be offensive. The order also came out without a few of the dishes we ordered, but it took so long for someone to come to our table so we could inform her of the mistake, by the time she arrived, we just had her remove it from the order. Also, our good friends who went here were chastised for 'only' ordering 1 salad and 1 pizza - which is seriously enough food for 2. The food is really pretty good, but it's not worth it.

Great place to meet with friends or on a date. Lively atmosphere. Tried the lamb sausage and olive pizza (delicious), and their roasted beet starter with pistachios and goat cheese was very tasty. Definitely try the polenta pound cake for dessert (like a medium-light density cornmeal cake) with fresh whipped cream.

“A Fantastic Place in to Eat and Drink and Be Merry in Evanston”
Reviewed September 20, 2008

It's kind of amazing to see a place so stylish and energetic in Evanston. The look of the restaurant is quite striking, with enormous windows looking out onto busy Chicago Avenue, and the twinkling lights hanging above the cool concrete bar provide a sense of fun and celebration. There's a comfy living room-style lounge in the front of the room- some choose to eat (or just drink) on these comfy couches. When it's busy that's where folks wait for their tables.

The food is imaginative and fantastic. The centerpiece of the restaurant is a beautiful handmade wood-burning pizza oven, and some amazing pizzas come out of that oven. They only make one size (a big meal for one, enough for two) and they don't personalize the pizzas, so you can't ask for pepperoni or ham & pineapple- it's not that kind of place. Instead, the chef has created 8 or 9 pizzas, from a simple tomato & mozzarella margherita to an adventurous lamb-sausage or a mushroom & bechamel pie that's out of this world. There's are some simple but tasty salds, a daily special, like lasagna or duck ragu & polenta, and plenty of small plates- olives& fennel, grilled calalmari, tuna & cannelini bean salad, roasted beets, eggplant caponat and that sort of thing.

As if that weren't enough there's a supercool music club in the back. All in all this place is a real find- and one of the only places in Evanston to get a decent meal after 10PM.

This place is popular with the middle to late aged crowd. The bar serves only eclectic beer but has a large assortment of wine and the usual spirits. This place is crowded and noisy. The food is decent but pretends to be something special. In all, it's just a California Pizza Kitchen with a bar.
