As a foreigner I was trying to get out of London for a few days to sample the 'real' England. I am city girl and every now and again I need to get out of my comfort zone. A few weeks ago I decided to go for an area that is practically untouched since the 17th century. I found Maunditts House very nice and cosy, comfortable rooms tastefully designed and furnished for your comfort. Nice choice for breakfast. First day I had porridge (my first time ever) and the next morning was ‘the English breakfast day’ both tasty and served by a lovely host. Nearby attractions are the quintessentially English villages of Lacock and Castle Combe and the lovely Dyrham Park and Westonbirt Arboretum. Swindon with its 'magic roundabout' was another new discovery for me. All in all this is a great retreat in a beautiful area. I would recommend it for the quality, attention to details, service and an authentic English experience.
