“Exceptional room at a budget friendly price.”
Reviewed March 22, 2010

We planned a long weekend in Chicago taking our 3 y/o to Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum. To stay downtown near the museum campus would have cost us over $600 in hotel and parking costs for three nights. Instead we stayed a short 20 minute drive west on Roosevelt to Kingery Hwy north in Elmhurst at the Quality Inn. Three nights for only $230! The hotel is tucked back about a block off Kingery on Riverside so you don't hear the highway noise. The hotel room was recently renovated and everything was upscale new, clean, and extremely comfortable. The complementary breakfast each morning included hot items (waffles, sausage, pancakes, etc) and a broad variety of breakfast carbs (toast, bagels, English muffins, Danish etc) and fruit. The pool area has yet to be renovated but was acceptable. My only wish was that they had a hot tub. After a long day walking it would have been nice to sit in a hot tub for a little while. No hot tub was a small concession to huge savings and excellent service. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The housekeepers even made up one of the beds w/ our daughter's blanket and favorite teddy bear. They thought of everything to make our little girl’s first trip to the big city perfect. We will definitely stay at this hotel again!

Despite the previous poor review, we stayed at the Quality Inn Elmhurst. What a deal! All the rooms are remodeled/in process (totally gutted and redone), and they were at least three star quality. Very comfortable mattresses, not to firm not too soft. Four pillows per double bed. Room had new flat screen tv, at least 80 cable channels, microwave, fridge. Very large room with desk and closet.
Bathroom done with granite walled shower and granite sink counter and ceramic tile floor. Good water pressure in shower.
New carpet. Only problem--beautiful, thick WHITE comforters on beds. With kids, it made me nervous, but at least you know they are clean.

Pool was very nice, around 78 degrees. No hot tub. Breakfast selection good, waffle maker, hot sausage and hot egg 'patties', yogurt, etc. Excellent service at front desk. Workout room in process of being upgraded, hall carpets did have some construction debris, little bits of drywall etc. Overall, highly recommended

Very poor quality, NOISY, breakfast items limited(no yogurt), carpeting, etc.much to be desired. Front desk seemed uninterested. Housekeeping started earlier than normal. Location and easy access to Chgo. was only good thing.Consider only as a last choice.

I have stayed at a lot of Quality Inns and other Choice brands and this was by far and away the worst example they had to offier.

We stayed in Room 120. There were many things wrong with the room and the hotel in general

Room -
Cigarette burns on the blanket
Broken toilet (actually had a hole in the tank)
Wall paper peeling and stained on more than 1 wall
Ceiling stained
Shower head kind of hanging out of the wall

Hotel -
Business center was closed, computers moved to eating area
Carpets were dirty
Walls were dirty

I would have checked out and moved to another hotel, but we got in late and left early.

Comfortable beds, clean rooms, adequate breakfast, large pool, but haven't tried the exercise equipment. Seems to be a nice place for receptions. Stayed here some 7 times in the last year--love the convenient location and reasonable price.

In September, I made online reservations for a number of stays through the Choice Hotels website at $53/night. The low price told me the property must be struggling. By November, they were no longer listed on the Choice Hotels reservations website. The owner said it was a glitch in the computer, which turned out not to be true. We stayed there toward mid-January, and the desk clerk said that it had changed owners in the last few weeks. The computer system was down (or not yet established), so they didn't have previous reservations. They honored my $53 + tax rate, and I confirmed that we'd be able to stay there this coming weekend for the same rate.

Since all transactions were being done manually, I called just now to confirm a reservation for tomorrow. The man who answered was unable to locate my reservation. He said they had plenty of rooms, and I could just walk-in. I wanted to confirm the $53/night rate, and he told me that since it was an internet reservation, I'd now have to pay $59.99/night. I could see their charging me their new rate for new reservations but not for their having "lost" previous reservations. It will likely take time for them to get established as a business. It's unfortunate, because they've not just lost $53, they've lost my business for the next year.

Otherwise, if you aren't worried about being on Choice Hotels' rewards program, it's a great bargain.

Really a very nice place. Price is extremely reasonable ($59 a night). The location is a bit odd (older suburb, bordered by affluent neighborhoods and technical/industrial complexes), but it is easily accessible by the major roadways. Rooms are very clean, bathroom large and modern. Housekeeping is very good. Lot's of personal touches. Staff is helpful, but not intrusive (a perfect combination for me). Breakfast Buffet is more than adequate, and hot waffles are available. Pool is large and well maintained. I was there during the holiday week, so there were few guests. Maybe a heavier guest load would influence service and quality, but I don't think so. If you don't need to stay downtown, this is a great option, especially if you are visiting venues throughout ChicagoLand. If downtown is your primary focus, and budget allows, then you are better to book downtown. 20 minutes to O'Hare, 30 minutes to Midway, 40 minutes to downtown. But traffic is heavy at all times on the major access roads, so allow for travel time.

  • Liked — Clean and Modern
  • Disliked — Location is a bit odd
  • Tips/Secrets — The area has great shopping restaurants only minutes away, despite the appearanc eof the area.

This is now the Quality Inn. I was able to go onto the Choice Hotel website and make a reservation for 59.99. The area is industrial, but it seemed safe enough. There was a group of boxers from another country that drove up in among other things a Porche. Seemed a little out of place, but the hotel did have extra touches like amenities, fancy towel folding and stone tile bathroom floor. When we got there at 10:00pm we noticed our bed did not have a matress pad and was able to request one from the nice housekeeper who was still working. It was clean. We didn;t use the pool or exersize room. My husband said the breakfast was pretty basic with no waffle machine. It seems they are trying and the staff was nice. We had no problems with noise. It is near to Oakbrook Center (5 minutes drive).
