Last minute trip to Chicago, booked a room online at 8pm, got a confirmation number packed and left home, when we arrived at 1145pm we found out that the online service had overbooked and the room we booked was not available. Took the young lady at the counter about 20 minutes to find us a room and provided extra linens and pillows and blanked so one of us could sleep on the floor. It was very much appreciated ! !
The room was so clean and fresh, everything was in place and worked (air conditioner, coffee pot, tv and remote and the iron.
Just a very good experience and a great value for what we saw in the way of prices of other motels in the Chicago area when we started looking for a place to stay.

We checked into the Days Inn because of a deal with Expedia. We thought it wouldn't be that bad, but the second we approached W Devon Ave, we saw a very telling exterior. The place was in a somewhat desolate area, next to multiple storage places and a car wash. When we entered the hotel, it reeked of smoke, which really set the tone for the hotel's quality. The place was very spartan; the lobby was like this too. The customer service was not very bad, so this was one of the few redeeming qualities of the hotel. There was also WiFi, which was pretty useful too, so those two factors helped bump up this review to two stars.

But then there was the hotel room. It was absolutely horrendous. To start, there was only one outlet in the room, which made finding a connection for my laptop very frustrating, the beds were very simple, and the leading amenity for the room was a mere refrigerator. The lamps would only work if you turned on a switch, which was quite weird. But the worst was the bathroom, which was very cramped. The sink was outside of the bathroom, which made showering and going to the bathroom awkward experiences. When I used the shower, it worked in a somewhat awkward way -- it buzzed for most of the shower and the bathtub creaked. Overall, the entire room was very disappointing and could be much better for even a low-budget hotel.

The cherry on top to this bad joke of a hotel was the breakfast. Don't be fooled by the previous reviews unless you're satisfied with a very rudimentary breakfast. The choices were awful. (I stayed at a hotel at a previous vacation that was only about one star above this in hotel quality, and they provided a full-fledged breakfast with such items like pancakes, waffles, fruits and other good breakfast items.) Days Inn had a machine that supposedly had orange juice and apple juice, but the apple juice was only water, a continuation of the theme of disappointments). The foods were also quite basic. There were only bagels, bread (with jam packets) and cereal. The choices were so terrible that we just gave up with the hotel right then, checked out immediately and headed off to a Starbucks.

Moral of the Story: 1. Don't go with cheap hotels on Expedia. 2. Cheap hotels are never a good gamble.

Room Tip: If you don't like the smell of smoking there are actually a couple no-smoking rooms.

Stayed here for 3 nights recently and I needed extra towels and washcloths but was told by the front desk that I could not get any additional towels until the next day because the housekeeping staff had already left for the day.

What type of hotel/motel personnel doesn't have access to the housekeeping area because the staff has already left for the day?? Seriously? No manager has an EXTRA key to get guests towels if needed ??

Will not stay here again.

My friend and I stayed here on our way to Chicago. We planned to stay one night in Elk Grove and 2 in Chicago but we liked it so much the first night, we stayed all 3 in Elk Grove. Our first night, we checked in around midnight and were given menus for local restaurants that were open late and delivered to the hotel. The next day we were a few minutes late for checkout but they were very understandable at the front desk and didn't charge us an extra night. We were very pleased with our stay the next two nights as well. It was so close to the city and the prices were so reasonable that i would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Chicago.
