Overall very consistent crust cheese and toppings. Usually get carry out but have enjoyed the entertainment available on weekends.

“Bad experience”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

My friend and I went here for lunch. I had ordered Danny's Pizza from the west side location in the past and liked their food. The first thing we noticed was how cold it was. Looked around and noticed everyone was eating with their jackets on. There were only 3 other couples in the restaurant. We waited 45 minutes for our 2 sandwiches. When questioned after 30 minutes, we were told there is only one cook and it would be just a few minutes. We waited 15 more minutes and they brought out the wrong sandwich. Sent it back to the kitchen and were told 3 minutes. It was another 10-15 minutes. Being that we only have a 45 minute lunch break, we were not happy. I would think that being located in the downtown area of Elgin, they would cater to the business person on their lunch breaks. The waitress seemed more concerned with cleaning the restaurant than getting our meal out to us. It was hard to get her attention. They did take the sandwich off of our bill, but it was still $18 for one sandwich and 2 cokes. The fries were free. I think they charge $2.00 per re-fill. I'm not sure, but I know I will not return. For a great meal with fast service, I'll head over to the Elgin Public House. They know how to do it right.

“Defacto Pizza Standard for Elgin Area, Now at Kimball & Douglas”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Well we've added Danny's to our list of local favorites since our last review! We had family in earlier in September an hosted some pizza...going with the double dough crust which mimics the traditional Sicilian crust. All agreed it was a keeper...Danny's Special on Double Dough. Great cheese, great fresh vegies, good sauce and sausage. Hey it freezes well too

“Excellent Pizza!”
Reviewed August 25, 2013 via mobile

We spent the night in Elgin on our way back from a fishing trip in Canada and used Tripadvisor to find a place to eat. We picked Danny's based upon the ratings and were not disappointed. The pizza was excellent, beer was cold and the service was great. The band was setting up to play at 9PM, we left before they started so can't comment on the band.

“Moved, Good Pizza with a Roadhouse Atmosphere”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Now Known as Danny's On Douglas

We stopped in this past weekend to try their pizza after reading both yelp and Trip Advisor reviews and were not disappointed.

The atmosphere reminds me of a southern roadhouse as opposed to a restaurant. The location has both a stage and garden area but looks to be vying for a slot as a regular music venue.

Service was prompt and the waitress polite. We ordered both the mozzarella filled breadsticks and deep dish pizza. Took about 10 mins for the appetizer which was served with their pizza sauce on the side...tangy yet sweet..cheese was a great mix.

We struggled with our pizza order trying to find a good balance to start out and a feeling as to what the differences were between their crusts. They have choices of standard crust, double dough (2x regular), deep dish and pan with pan actually being a formal pie with top crust. We opted ultimately for the deep dish with three toppings sausage, onion and green pepper.

The pizza arrived about 40 minutes after order. The crust was baked fluffy and at base almost an inch thick, cheese was ample, sauce great, sausage tasty and vegetables fresh and crisp...no grease! It was good although the crust was a little overwhelming for the topping. We're going to try a regular on next visit but would recommend going with a double if you like more of a Sicilian crust.

It was a great visit, good food and fantastic service. Management might want to invest in a better description of their Pizza and crusts in the menu...

Will be back
