When I find myself in Elgin and hungry this has been a great choice.
Unfortunately, it's primarily a lunch spot, open for dinner only on Thursdays and Fridays. It's in an office building in an office park on a winding road set back off Randall Road and the tollway interchange.
I've had several lunches and dinners there - tried the soups, salads, pastas, and wraps - and have never been disappointed. It appears to be family run - no Olive Garden - and for my money the best Italian in the Elgin area. It's a simple, small place with a little bar and bare wood tables so it can get noisy if it fills up (and it does) at lunch and dinner. But it shows why Italian food has become the de facto American cuisine: tasty food, generous portions, healthy options (add some grilled salmon or try the "verdura"), and reasonable prices in an informal atmosphere. When all that comes with good service, what's not to like?
Hint: before you go check out their website for the current soups and specials.
