Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center - East Peoria
Ranked #6 of 10 Hotels in East Peoria
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed November 6, 2013

I had such a wonderful experience at the Stoney Creek Inn in East Peoria. My room and the entire hotel was very clean, and the staff was incredibly friendly! The heated pool and hot tub area were amazing after a long day of sitting in a conference. The complimentary breakfast had a wide selection. A selection of omelets, sausage patties, waffles, or bananas and yogurt...or all of the above. The housekeepers did a wonderful job of maintaining my room the two nights I stayed. The conference area was large and the entire staff very accommodating to our company. The catering company did a wonderful job as well. The food for our group was tasty, and more importantly on time! The general manager, Steve even stopped by both days to make sure everyone was taken care of and enjoying our stay. I would highly recommend this hotel for your next trip in the Peoria area.

I have been a part of this conference for the last four years. I have always had an enjoyable experience and this year was no exception. Staff is always friendly and helpful, and the rooms are nice. I look forward to returning each year.

I have booked the annual Transportation Security Conference at the Stoney Creek Inn in East Peoria for the last four years. I cannot say enough about the dedicted, well organized, perfect staff that I have encountered. Everyone from the General Manager (Steve) to the Executive Sales Manager (Victoria) to the caterers, front desk staff, services staff and maintenance staff, they have reigned supreme. If ever an issue arose (very few), they were there to assist immediately with positive results.

What a great place to stay and conduct meetings. The sleeping rooms and accomodations are superb. Everyone makes you feel at home. If you are ever in the East Peoria area, stop by the Stoney Creek Inn, you are sure to walk away satisfied and look forward to your next stay there. Again the staff are a five (5) star class act.

Room Tip: Check out the extended King rooms. You will be pleasantly suprised.

Staff was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. Loved the "lodge theme". Our deluxe room was of average hotel size but very clean along with the bathroom. Room was quiet considering there was a school baseball tournament near the area-lots of kids running the halls-in and out the doors constantly. Dining area was cozy and set up well-breakfast was very good. We stayed Fri, Sat, Sun. nights. Breakfast was better on Monday morning-something different from the weekend! Best coffee and available all day!! Did not have a chance to visit the pool but my daughter and grandson did-had a great time. Hotel was very near shopping and restaurants. We will definately stay again when we come visit family.

Room Tip: First floor room on south side seemed quiet and natural lighting was great!

We stayed here for a wedding. It has a mountain lodge theme. Staff were friendly and the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. We would stay here again, reasonably priced stay. The hotel sits on the river and is near the casino and Jonah's bar and restaurant. Plenty of free parking. Hotel was busy but we had no problems. Breakfast pickings are very slim however, definitely could use some improvement in that area.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view, they also have large rooms with bunk beds which area great for a family with k...

We stayed in the premium room with a kitchen, living room, enclosed porch and huge bathroom with whirlpool tub.

The good: Room was much Better than we expected, had to be 1,000 square feet. Granite counter tops in the kitchen. Large LCD TV mounted above a gas fireplace. Plenty of seating if you're taking a family of 5. Huge 2 person(or 3 person if that's your style) whirlpool tub. Secluded at the very end of the hotel.

The bad: They had dishes in the kitchen, some of which were dirty from the last guests. We washed them, not a huge deal. Wife saw a centipede in the bathroom(lol). The door didn't seem very safe. It locked like all hotel rooms, but it was a dual door and the only thing holding it closed after you lock it is a latch at the top of the secondary swinging door.

Overall great value and experience, would patronize again.

I had the extreme misfortune of attending a wedding shower, reception dinner and wedding at this establishment. Each event was worse than the other. I will start with the shower, the reserved hall for the shower was basically an empty guest room, sooo small most people had to stand in the hall. The staff at check in was rude and in the morning when we went down to breakfast there was no food left, it states breakfast till 10 it was 9:30 we asked the breakfast staff if they were bringing out more food and was told NO we were not planning on it. When we went to front desk and complained, they brough out more food which was bland and disgusting. The weekend of the wedding we showed up rooms were not ready, people had to double up and wait for rooms to be cleaned, staff was rude and unaccommodating the hall for the rehearsal dinner was again an empty guest room barely able to fit everyone, the staff was uncoordinated nobody seemed to know what they were doing. Wedding day more guest show up, again rooms are not ready and guests are met with rude service. The wedding coordinator had no clue as to what she was doing, guests were befuddled as to what to do. At the end of the night people were told to go to their rooms or police would be called, police were called and basically a swat team shows up with dogs and tazers and arrests were made. This hotel has no idea how to handle a large gathering or to provide good customer service. Anyone planning a large wedding should definately look elsewhere.

Jack K, Vice President of Corporate Support Services at Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center - East Peoria, responded to this reviewResponded October 1, 2013

Dear jander05, This is the second review as a result of a wedding event in which the bride told us she was very happy and went on to apologize for the behavior of a select few. My apologies to you for the way the breakfast staff and the front desk responded to your requests as you described them. We want to treat every guest as though they are our only guests, each and every one important to us. The bridal party chose the meeting facilities prior to the event for the shower and reception. After those events, we received many accolades from attendees saying they had a wonderful time. As far as sleeping rooms being ready early, our housekeeping team is unable to clean rooms until the previous guests have left at their checkout time. We do apologize for any delay as we want to make sure that all of our guests coming in to stay with us have an immaculately cleaned room. We have planned weddings of many sizes ending in countless happy customers. In regards to the events that happened resulting in the police being involved, we do have a responsibility to all of our guests to keep the environment safe and friendly and we still stand by the actions required due the select few who misbehaved.
