This is one of our standby favorites. There is an oyster bar that is casual and a restaurant that is traditional, and the food at each is always good.

“New and improved...”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

Previously, we stopped going there because of limited menu and high prices. After several years, our return found excellent food, satisfactory selection, and the prices are in line with their quality and quantity. Their Oyster Bar and their restaurant are typically busy, with a relatively small parking lot. They take reservations. Fantastic Cuban sandwich and gumbo soup in their Oyster Bar.

“Surprisingly good for central Illinois”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

I need to admit I am not a huge connoisseur of seafood, partially from having been born, raised, and continuing to live in Illinois, seldom known for fresh fish. I was quite impressed by not only the extensive selection of fish but its freshness. Our party had oysters, local whitefish, and several oceanic varieties as well as a delicious jambalaya, and everyone was quite pleased with the selections. The evening view over the Illinois River toward downtown Peoria's lights was quite nice as well!

“Not worth the price, fish was pretty bland!”
Reviewed January 20, 2013 via mobile

This was my first time here. I live in the Chicago area and frequent Peoria a lot. The decor and atmosphere was very nice and I felt Great being in there. The hostess and servers were very nice and were full of smiles, we were sat quickly with our sat night reservations. Very casual place.

The food was just OK! I had a tilefish, which came to my plate LUKEWARM instead of hot. It lacked proper seasoning and taste. It was VERY BLAND.

The sweet Au gratin potatoes were good but nothing to rave about. Very basic.

The fried platter wasn't good, the fish was ALRIGHT. The oysters did not taste good fried and the the shrimp was the only highlight. I don't understand why so many restaurants are afraid to use salt and pepper and season fish to bring forth some flavor!

The clam chowder is EXCELLENT. Honestly, if you can. I'd stick to appetizers and a BOWL of clam chowder so you're not spending an excess amount of money on an entree that doesn't deliver but looks appealing by the menu descriptions, I was enticed and fooled by them as well. Many of the appetizers looked great though!

Key lime pie. Great pie, too much whipped cream, priced somewhat appropriately.

Bottom line: go somewhere else, I mean it's nice but management needs to do some work on the quality of their "fresh fish" and give it some robust taste and flavor. I tend to compare it with great seafood and oyster houses like Acme in New Orleans who does a phenomenal job on their seafood and it has flavor! Flavor is key! Who would want to pay for something that is not memorable?
