My wife and I have stayed regularly at this hotel, as it is conveniently situated midway en route on our drive from Liverpool to Southampton, from where we go cruising.

We are always made very welcome by the staff, who have upgraded us on several of our visits.

The hotel is very popular for weddings and conferences, which take place in a separate part of the hotel. We like the old world character of the hotel with modern amenities.

We actually had our wedding reception at Hatherley Manor, and that was absolutely spectacular - the staff were amazing, and the day went so far beyond our expectations! We stayed in the honeymoon suite, and they'd decked it out so well. Nothing tacky or cliche, but a spacious, clean and welcoming room with every mod-con you could want. The restaurant food is also fabulous. All-round, a top top place to stay.

A friendly and helpful staff complemented the gorgeous setting to host our daughter''s wedding. Everything from the preparation to the almost flawless delivery (be honest - what wedding goes without any hitches) on the day contributed to a set of memories that the newlyweds and guests will treasure for years to come.

Anything we asked for was provided with minimal fuss, and the professionalism in making arrangements took a great weight of the organisation off our shoulders. If we had any other daughters thinking of marrying, we'd not hesitate to hold a function there again. Money well spent.

Our rooms were clean, very comfortable and despite there being three weddings being catered for on the day, remarkably quiet. A welcome retreat from the festivities when required. The ample grounds also offer any number of spots with rustic views across open fields, where you could restfully enjoy a chosen beverage.

To top it off, those of us who stayed the night following the nuptials were all very impressed by the hearty and diverse choice on offer to breakfast with. It even caters a vegetarioan cooked breakfast as standard fare. That's not something the more widely travelled members of our family have found to be the case wherever they go. Stuff like that makes a big difference.

Very pleasant stay.Particularly appreciated the extensive buffet breakfasts ; evening meals good too.Room looked out on large expanse of flat roof with air-conditioning hoods and pipes, which was a shame.(And fairly noisy in the mornings.) Having booked last-minute probably affected room-availability. Having an iron and board in the room was useful. We could have done with drawers to stow clothing, as we were there for 4 nights; apart from hanging space, there were really only 3 small open shelves.

I was delighted when my husband said he had been sent a good deal at one of the Classic Hotels group (we have stayed at the Bay Tree and The Bear both of which were very good) but after reading some reviews was a bit dubious about Hatherley Manor. However I did not need to worry. Laid out in lovely grounds the building is part original country house with a modern annexe added on. As our room wasn't ready we were offered complimentary coffee in the lounge bar, although it was only minutes until we were given the keys to our room. It was on the ground floor with open views across lawns and fields. The room was average size with double bed (would have preferred a larger size) , desk, flatscreen TV, chair, tea making facilities and my only gripe was lack of air conditioning although the window could be opened. The bathroom was also newly refurbished and immaculate with usual mod cons including toiletries.
Dinner was excellent with a good choice of 2 or 3 courses and our deal included wine and coffee. The service was good and the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant even though there was small tour group in the dining room. Breakfast was also ample with cereals, fruit, continental and British breakfast choices.
It does have a large conference area and provision for weddings but we were not aware of any large parties during our stay.
All in all it was a delightful stay which definitely exceeded our expectations and would recommend it to friends and family for a break in the Cotswolds.
