Emmett's beer battered cod is delicious! The price is steep however if you don't order seconds. French onion soup is fantastic!

Had lunch at this gray downtown eatery while visiting sister living in Downers Grove. What a neat place to go to. Small cemetery next door. Parking free out back. Right on Main Street with some really nice shops near by. Big comfortable booths. We had burgers 4 different ways with some great combinations of unique cheeses and accompaniments. Outstanding! And the walls are covered with great historic pictures. Enjoyed our lunch and would go again if traveling back to the area.

Emmett's is one of our favorite microbreweries. A group of local British car owners meet here for a pint or two almost every week. Their food is good also even though we don't usually dine there.

This place brews great beer and serves very good bar food. All the appetizers are solid and the burgers are done well. I'm not crazy about the entree options... many are expensive and not a good value. Stick with the beer, burgers/bar food and you'll love it. Also love the historical prohibition era photos all over... really nice atmosphere.

Some former high school pals decided to have a mini-class reunion, when one member flew in from Denver for a few days. Emmett's was chosen because of it's central location, and because they were open later than some other restaurants suggested. They reserved a table for the 16 of us, and it was ready, when we were. The service was deftly handled by one very nice woman, with a good memory and a lot of patience. Not everyone ordered food, but those that weren't were drinking beer. Judging from the list of their home-brews, I'm sure there are enough for the most discerning palates. I had studied the menu Online, so that I could be prepared. Since everyone paid their own tab, I wanted to bring plenty of money. Since I only drank Pepsi, my drinks were refilled free. Now for the food part. I ordered the Saturday night special, which was a queen-size prime rib dinner. The portion was pretty skimpy for $21. I'm always prepared to trim the excess fat, but if the piece is only 5" in diameter to star, that doesn't leave much in the center. It was excellent tasting. It came with a decent house salad, a baked potato, and the chef's vegetable de'jour. I paid extra for cheese and bacon on my potato, which was perfect. I was worried that because I didn't spend the additional money for grilled asparagus, I would be disappointed, but the chef made brussel sprouts, cut up, and slightly browned, which were even better, because I don't have them as often. I was so famished, I ate the whole potato, skin and all. We were all talking and catching up, so we were there for over 3 hours. They never rushed us, and the place was packed. I waited a bit, and ordered dessert, which I had craved, since last week, when I first read the menu. Raspberry Tiramisu. What a treat. I completely forgot about the prime rib fiasco. The server brought out a huge wedge of gorgeous pastry, covered in drizzles of raspberry sauce, and a dash of chocolate. I healthy dollop of fresh whipped cream sealed the deal. There were three clean forks handed to me, but none of my friends wished to partake, sighting that it didn't go with beer. Their loss, my gain. It was the best $8.00 I spent last night. It was light, creamy, and not overly sweet. I don't know if the ladie's fingers were soaked in any kind of liqueur, but it was a delicious end to the evening. I had mentally added up my portion of the meal, but somehow, the server took pity on us all, and made out separate checks. I find more and more restaurants are catering to this need, as so many people want to pay with their credit/debit cards. The gentleman who organized the event, said that in the past it had all worked out fine with one tab, but I think with a group this size, no one should get stuck picking up a larger portion of the check, than they ordered. Kudos to our server for splitting it up. I would eat there again. Things that I would like to try? The 8 oz. specialty burgers, the pretzel twists with cheese dip, the pot roast dinner, the Mandarin Punch Cocktail, or their French onion soup. The place was clean, and very noisy. I had no complaints. There was parking in the rear, on the street, and in a public lot across the street. It might be more congested during the day, and some parking you may have to pay for down the street.
