“Great for an airport location”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

There are tons of hotels around the O'Hare airport so there are lots of options. Some are cheaper than this one, and a lot are more expensive. The value for the money with the Marriott quality in this location makes it a good choice. It is one of the recently upgraded properties with the new lobby and cafe. This configuration is a lot nicer than the older style Courtyards. Lots of space to lounge or work with an upgraded evening menu. To be fair its a fairly limited selection, but what is there is of good quality. I do miss the omelet station in the morning, but I guess you can't have everything. Rooms were fresh and clean with a good bed. There appeared to be lounging areas outside near the pool, but I didn't go out there.

It is a pretty good little drive downtown, so if you are wanting to stay deep in the city you might want to stay elsewhere - or ride the train which is fairly convenient.

Odds and ends: It is almost right beside a large casino and near some of the larger "out of city" venues. Traffic can be horrible if you choose the wrong time to get out and about so choose carefully. Would I stay here again? Absolutely if all I needed was quick access to the airport

Dear Traveler,
Thank you for your positive review of our hotel. We were thrilled to read that of the many lodging choices in the O'Hare area that for the value and Marriott quality you found our hotel to be a good choice and that our lobby and guest rooms were spacious and clean. We know sometimes the traffic in area can be crazy and you're absolutley correct choose your travel times wisely or better yet take the train which is just minutes away from the hotel.
Thank you again for you comments and we look forward to the opportunity too accommodate you again on your next visit to the area.

All the best!

It's hard to find an affordable hotel in the Chicago area. We like this one when we stay there. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable. The beds are great... and good casual dining at the bistro. Just a 20 minute drive to downtown. We have been meaning to try the casino next door. Maybe next trip.

My husband and I were surprised because the hotel atmosphere makes you feel far better from other expriences with airpor area hotels! We do recommend this hotel if you need to saty close to the airport or, as it happened to us, you could not find hotels downtown in your first night in Chicago. The location is also convenient because you can reach downtown using the trains, although the station is in the airoort, but not close to the hotel.

I was a bit disappointed in my experience at this Courtyard. I always have great experiences at Marriott hotels, but this one left a bit to be desired. The staff are friendly and the lobby is bright and clean, but the rooms could use some updating. Ours felt a bit dingy and hadn't been cleaned well - you could still see spots on the sink that clearly housekeeping hadn't cleaned before we checked in. There was a musty smell to the room and bathroom, and it looked like there may have been mold on the vent in the bathroom. I have allergies to dust, mold, etc, and was stuffy the entire time we stayed there.

We had two other issues while staying there. First, the shuttle was great for travel to and from the airport and other local attractions, but not without problems. We were told (without asking - this information was volunteered by hotel staff) that the shuttle would take us, upon request, to the local movie theater and would pick us up just by calling. We did so during the day successfully, then were dropped off again that evening for another movie. When we called to be picked up we were informed that the shuttle did not pick up from that location - potentially leaving us stranded at 10:30 pm, in the rain, in a location with which we were unfamiliar. We pressed the issue, arguing that not only were we dropped off at that location and told a shuttle would pick us up, but that we had in fact been picked up there earlier that day. A shuttle eventually did come pick us up, but it was stressful. Also one of the shuttle drivers (the man who drives in the evenings) is a crazy driver so that was also not a good experience. The driver we had during the day was great. So while we did ultimately get a ride back to the hotel, we weren't happy about the situation.

The second issue was that we were told by hotel staff that the lobby had NFL Sunday Ticket and we could watch any game we wanted. So instead of going to a sports bar to watch the Patriots game, we came back to the hotel - but the staff couldn't figure out how to use the Sunday Ticket option so we were unable to watch the game. Maybe not a huge deal, and wouldn't have been an issue at all had we not been told we could watch the game, but since we were it was disappointing. The hotel shouldn't advertise the service of Sunday Ticket unless it is actually available - and should make sure all staff members know how to use it.

We did not use the pool, but we did use the fitness center once. The treadmills were fine but the TVs didn't work (almost none of the channels came in). The TV in our room was also a bit spotty.

The bed was fairy comfortable, but looked messy - the mattress appeared to be sagging and the bed wasn't made neatly. You can hear the planes go by overhead, but it's not terribly loud. I'm a fairly light sleeper and that didn't keep me up, but I brought a fan for white noise so that may have helped somewhat. Light sleepers may have an issue with the airplane noise.

Overall, not a terrible experience but not a great one either. I will probably not stay at this hotel again the next time I am in the area. It definitely did not match all my other experiences with Marriott hotels.

We stayed here for three nights on a short stop in Chicago. Being a native, it was difficult for me to stay outside of the city but did so out of convenience for this visit. Regardless, this hotel has easy access to just about everything. The hotel has been updated and the lobby has a nice, inviting, lounge feel. Rooms were comfortable and clean but since we booked through orbitz, we were stuck with a 2 queen bed room on the expressway side of the building. Not a big deal, but not my favorite. The biggest thing was that we had our Eurail passes shipped to the hotel for the next leg of our trip. After checking with the front desk to make sure they would notify us of their arrival, they did not and in our haste, we left for the airport without them. We realized an hour before our flight, called the hotel and the operations manager arranged for them to be FedExed to us in Fance. He even picked up the bill for shipping. We are so appreciative, love the level of customer service and will recommend this hotel highly
