Hotel is new, in beautiful countryside. The driveway is narrow, two buses hardly avoid. The hotel is built alongside the original medieval fortress, which made the owners Museum. There are examples of glassmaking from around the medieval dining room and a small exhibition about nature foothills.
The rooms are very spacious, clean, large bathroom. The rooms equipped with minibar, safe, flat TV and all the wifi signal reception. In some rooms is very weak. Attention in the hotel and in the surrounding area is very weak phone signal!
Services staff were excellent, the food quality. We had wild boar medallions with potato and cranberry sauce, were excellent. Is a decent selection of wines and there are 3 kinds of excellent Czech beer.
Hotel suitable for all those who want to enjoy the tranquility of the countryside.

Room Tip: Rooms all have the same quality

I went here on a recommendation of a friend from the Czech Republic. It's a little Disney in that its trying to be something that its not. Or that is what I thought. Apparently this was some sort of fortified farm 400 years ago, some sort of a Gothic fortress. There are some, what appear to be original, wall paintings on original plaster. So there are some original features but a lot of unsympathetic repairs. Not sure what the owners are trying to portray. However, its interesting trying to unpick what works have been done to the structure.

The menu was limited although different in that it did not have the same fare offered in some of the other local restaurants. The food is average as was the service. The presentation of what was brought to the table was good. It appeared that the staff could do with some training in service and in the English language. Having said that this restaurant / hotel has the potential to be a good. Next time I'm out this way I might try the hotel!

It is new. So now 2013 it is still nice and tidy. Time will show if they spend efforts to keep this standard up. New and tidy save their 4* rating.
All the old stones and castle things are not authentic, but they try to make the castle hotel Theme a live experience. The living owl in a cage is a poor animal. They should run if at all, a real hunting bird show with professional bird keepers, that treat their bird right and well.

The restaurant was of good local, bohemian taste, wide variety of choices. Excellent priced and very caring staff. It was the highlight of the stay. Everything that fine there would make it 5*

To ask €25 only for sauna and whirlpool is ridiculous, and called "SPA"....ZERO*

The reception was of poor english and not capable to realize my complaint that
1) the road was washed away by flooded river and we had to drive huge way around
There was no road sign showing a proper redirection
2) they should state this fact to their visitors on their homepage

They have a tiny Whiney souvenir shop with a handful of nice gifts.

2miles away there is a real castle, well worth to see , but it was holiday so terribly crowded.

With a little more effort they could be rated 5/5 !! F.e. if reception would speak as proper English as the waitress did. She saved with the nice meal our day.

Room Tip: Could have needed 2nd pillow 4bed was only one sleeping room

Having worked in the area previously and due to the lack of 'good' hotels locally, I have had to stay half an hour outside of Letohrad, however this time I was delighted to see a decent hotel has now opened. Unfortunately I put the address into my Sat Nav and this directs you to the back of the hotel which is a very dark, single lane track...and the hotel is not very well sign posted.
However, once in the hotel, it is a very clean, well finished, modern place. It is very new and hasn't quite got any atmosphere in the walls yet. I dined in the restaurant adjacent to the hotel, although quite cheap compared to hotel standards, the food was quite bland..but edible.
The hotel rooms are very nice, almost 'suite' like with a large very modern bathroom and a large comfy bed and a flat screen TV. The only gripes I had were that there were 12 TV channels and not one of them in English (international language?) and my room was cold, I did turn the heating on but there seemed to be teething problems with the new system centrally, in all fairness they did try to fix it but without success and then offered to move me to a higher floor room as I was below ground level...but by then I had unpacked my stuff etc so just sat it out.
As the hotel was new, the wellness centre hadn't opened yet which was disappointing and as it was dark and wet when I arrived, i didn't get chance to have a look around the grounds (it's an old fortress) but it did look nice.
1 final comment, there is a car park outside the entrance barrier where you can park your car for free, however, when you drive through the barrier and park your car outside the hotel, they charge you €8? surely as a hotel guest they should not charge you to park the car..arriving when it's dark and raining the last thing I wanted to do was carry the bags down the driveway.
Anyway, all in all, I will be back and would recommend it

Room Tip: get one above reception level in the winter..not below
