“Mexican Restaurant”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

I would rate this as a Mexican restaurant as apposed to a Tex-Mex restaurant. This was a milder experience, so if you love fire I would add additional hot sauce.

“Good drinks, tasty appetizers, friendly service.”
Reviewed October 16, 2012 via mobile

Had drinks and appetizers before a show at Otto's. It was crowded on a Saturday in the bar with college football on the big screen. Dining room was quieter, yet still had atmosphere. The server was friendly and gave us enough time to chat. We ordered a few different appetizers and thought we'd get a meal too, but too full. Tortilla soup was hot yet not too spicy. Good guacamole. Chips were warm and fresh. Good value for Mexican food. An old hang-out from college days that has survived the years. Nice. Go in for a meal or to hang in the bar. Good times.

“Consistent, good food, good service”

I have been eating at Eduardo's since they first opened on the far east side of town, maybe 27 years ago? One of my favorite restaurants on the face of the planet

“Mediocre Mexican food”
Reviewed May 29, 2012

I ate at Eduardo's with some friends in February for supper. Despite the praises of many locals and other fellow NIU students, I was not too impressed by the quality of the food. To gain a feel for the overall quality of the restaurant, I ordered a combination plate, which consisted of a burrito, enchilada, and chile relleno, sided with rice and refried beans. The quality of the meats in the burrito and enchilada was mediocre to even poor, and the burrito contained considerable filler (beans and lettuce) while skimping on cheese, meat, and other vegetables. The chile relleno was soggy. The complimentary chips-and-salsa appetizer was decent, however. Service was barely adequate, provided by a poorly trained (by his claim) novice waiter. Prices ran high.

On two other occasions, my academic department at NIU hosted a reception catered by Eduardo's at the restaurant. The food at this reception was hors d'oeuvres. Most of the selection tasted as if was frozen Mexican junk food items heated up and served. Not impressed!

Really, this review should be 2-1/2 stars. I do not particularly recommend Eduardo's. Of course, one's choice of Mexican sit-down restaurants in DeKalb-Sycamore is limited.

“Great Salsa!”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

Family owned and great atmosphere. Fresh cooked chips and homemade salsa are complimentary while you sip on cocktails waiting for your meal to arrive
