“Customer service needs attention.”
Reviewed July 20, 2012

As other reviewers have stated, this hotel is a good value, has a decent location and no bugs. Beds comfortable and linens clean. Breakfast standard and free.
I understand this hotel used to be a Sheraton.
The hotel is clean but has evidence of disrepair that seems to have been of long standing (broken off/missing floor tiles, for example).
Some of our "customer service" experiences follow:
Checking in -- no recognition of us standing there, such as "I'll be right with you."
Second day -- room was not cleaned. Advised desk. "Oh, he must have forgotten. I'll have some towels brought up."
Third morning - No ice machines working. Advised desk. "Oh, you can go to the restaurant and they'll give you some."
This is our second time to stay at Days Inn over 3-4 years, and in spite of the nonchalant customer service, we probably will stay again.

I think this must have been a beautiful, stately, six floor hotel at one time, but time has certainly taken its toll. We booked a non-smoking, king bed room on the first floor. The beds were clean and comfortable (no bugs) but the ceiling had water marks all over it. The bathroom tub panel was cracked and the ceiling over the tub was bubbled. The furniture was definitely of an older style. The walls AND door seemed to be paper thin because you could plainly hear conversations both in the next room and in the hallway. However, the minor items stated here are compensated for in the price. If you're looking for a nice, clean place to sleep (and this has become somewhat difficult to find) for a moderate price, this works nicely.

The hotel is just off of Rt 1 and 136. Easy to get to and able to get to many things in Danville. The hotel offers non smoking rooms which do not smell of smoke. The hotel was clean. The do have an outside pool, small fitness room and business center. They do not offer coffee in the lobby - but you have coffee pot in your room. I did go down to bar area and asked for coffee and it was $1.50 to fill up my Casey's coffee cup. The business center - should you want to use it is $4 per half hour. If you do not use the safe in your room you get $1.50 put back onto your final bill.
The price was not bad but if you like some extra perks you can get them from other area hotels for almost the same price. I would stay here again since I do not need the perks all the time.
I went to Karaoke at the bar but it was too loud for the small area it was in so I did not stay long. There was only about 10 people there at 9 pm.

We spent two nights here. We really just needed a place to lay our heads. Some rooms are smoking, which took some getting used to, since in Ohio, all our hotels are now non-smoking. Several of the rooms had new carpeting and new mattresses (we got 6 rooms). Bathrooms were clean. No bed bugs (we checked!). Beds were comfortable. Safes, hairdryers, irons in rooms. No fridge.

Located close to gas stations and restaurants. We went to OLeary's on Vermillion. They had great burgers, onion rings, and sweet potato fries, but be warned - they close at 9 pm on a Friday night.

Gino's bar was attached to hotel. Not the fanciest, but nice to be able to have a few drinks and not have to worry about rides/driving.

Breakfast was free. It was basic, but adequate. Cereal, bagels, pastries, toast, english muffins, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, etc. Milk, juice, tea, and coffee.

Overall, would probably stay here again.

Room Tip: ask for non-smoking rooms if you want one, but they might not always be available. Ice machines are...

We were planning on making it to Indy on our drive, but our 4-month old and 3-year old had had enough of their car seats, so we pulled off into Danville. There was apparently a conference in town and the nearby Best Western was charging exorbitant rates, so we tried the Days Inn. It looked a little sketchy in the lobby area, but the front desk staff was pleasant enough and booked us into a "suite" since they had no adjoining rooms available.

The usual room was eh - musty smelling, very old decor and carpets, with a king sized bed and the usual furniture. It did have a microwave and mini-fridge, possibly since it was part of the suite.

The "suite" part of the suite was questionable. The pull-out sofabed was just plain nasty - stains of unknown (and we did not WANT to know) origin on the cushions, and the bed was as cheap and uncomfortable a pull-out bed as I have ever seen - plus it still had used linens on it, no pillows, and the saddest sagging mattress ever. The bathroom was not clean - very dusty (like dust from the walls being drilled to install the shower curtain rod). The carpet was not clean. There was a huge hottub/bathtub in the middle of the bedroom and a HUGE flatscreen tv. There were 2 armchairs which were so narrow that I could not sit in them to nurse the baby, nor could I use the sofabed, so nighttime feeding was rather a pain. There were virtually no electrical outlets in the room, so our little sound machine had to be plugged into a bathroom outlet - and that outlet only worked if you left the light on in the bathroom, which was a heat lamp - so it was like a sauna in the bathroom all night.

Breakfast was good if all you want is donuts and cereal. The staff working in the breakfast room was very friendly.

I would not stay here again - I would heartlessly force the children to make it another 45 minutes or so to Crawfordsville, as the options in Danville appeared to be pretty limited.

We spent three nights at this Day's Inn. The hotel was full with our event the entire time, and it was obvious they weren't used to so much business.

Our room was OK, but friends had rooms that were in poor repair. The bedding was pretty bad with sheets that were too small for our king bed and one of those old polyester bedspreads that just feel icky. We ended up using two blankets we happened to have with us. The walls are thin, and light poured in around the window shades no matter what I did. The AC worked well, and we needed it. It was very hot.

Nice pool, but no pool towels at all.

Housekeeping started knocking on doors at about 8:30 AM asking for dirty towels and if we wanted our room serviced that day. I've never had that happen that early and after the second morning remembered to leave out the 'do not disturb' sign. The first day, between my husband and I we were asked if we wanted maid service 3 times. It was obvious that the 'maids' on our floor were mostly called in just for the occasion. One had a baby she was taking room to room with her. They worked hard and I don't blame them at all - they just weren't prepared for a full house. The last morning after our being out until about 2AM, a vacuum cleaner started up in the room directly above us at 8:10AM. Good thing we needed to get up anyhow.

Wifi was spotty (maybe because of weather) and business center had no printer paper available - and they wanted to charge $7.00 an hour to use the center.

On site restaurant serves up an adequate but uninspired breakfast buffet for $6.00 each, and we went elsewhere after the first morning. Menu service also available.

I had fun listening to the front desk girl gossiping on the phone while I sat in the lobby waiting on friends. Better than a soap opera.

Danville is a down on it's luck place, and the Day's Inn is OK for an overnight on the road for the right price. That's all I'd recommend it for.

  • Liked — it had a bed and a shower.
  • Disliked — there wasn't a better hotel near where we needed to be.

Very good location in Danville. The hotel is not new but it is clean. It could use a few more electrical outlets but I find that problem at a lot of hotels in this class. The bathroom could have used some upgrades but it was functional. The staff was professional and courteous. There is an attached restraunt with a decent menu. They have a very nice breakfast menu. The bar area is very nice almost upscale. Large pool area.
