Beautiful small veranda overlooking the bay, excellent Greek food, I had a very good fresh fish, and they make a special moussaka with artichoke which is a real delicacy. Even the home made cakes were a nice surprise. Very recommended place for an everyday meal or a family celebration.

You get the feeling that the owners of O Molos would like you to think that theirs is a restaurant which is a cut above. That the cooking is not your ordinary Greek fair but something different, better, more serious.

Well we got off to a bad start. We arrived half an hour late for our table as the journey down the long and winding road to the Mikros Gialoa was a lot longer and slower than we’d thought. Most often in Greece this really wouldn’t matter, especially as the reservation had been by email.

However our table had been given away- that’s not unreasonable I suppose but the attitude by the patron was definitely rather “you don’t know how lucky you are that I can squeeze you into a tiny table”. I felt like I was being told off by my headmaster for being a naughty boy. Strange as this is a little taverna not a New New York opening!

So all seven of squeezed in which was ok if cramped. The restaurant is small but pretty. The service ok but lacking the usual Greek warmness.

The menu reflects an attempt to suggest that the cooking is serious and a notch or two above standard tavern fair. Sadly, it’s not. The usual appetisers- calamari, courgette balls, Greek salad were fine but no better than anywhere else. So some of us delved into parts of the menu where there was a difference. Cuttlefish pasta with bottarga was too dry and the bottarga cut into chunks- it should be grated. Spaghetti with seafood was nice but again no better than provided by countless restaurants along the front in Lefkada town, Vassiliki or Sivota. A grilled sea bass was ok but nothing special. All in all it seemed a little too much “all mouth and no trousers”!

In summary you’ll have a nice evening at O Molos- as long as you arrive promptly and don’t mind the long drive- and you don’t expect to eat anything better than countless other tavernas scattered around the island.

The best place around Ionian Islands. If you are in Lefkada, just go. Ask the waiter for today's specials. Order some dessert as end of this food jurney!

We had a wonderful experience in this restaurant. The fish dishes and the moussaka were delicious and the deserts were absolutely amazing. The beef souvlaki was overcooked, but this was the only flaw. I recommend the grilled octopus, it took a while but it was worth the wait!

A light, airy and spotless restaurant on the waterfront, a real pleasure to eat there. The food was excellent, the menu interesting with lots of daily specials and the staff charming and accommodating. We loved it, and unusually for us, returned several times.

A particular pleasure was to see them look after young families so well.
