We recently spent 3 nights at DeWitt Place in Chicago. The location is excellent for Navy Pier, the Hancock Tower and shopping along the Magnificent Mile. Good bus service along Michigan Avenue takes you down to the Loop. A 15 minute walk takes you to the subway. Our studio apartment was nicely decorated. The kitchen was well equipped but would benefit from the addition of a kettle and teapot. Not everyone drinks coffee. As others have mentioned the bathroom was tiny and dated. Not a big problem but the finish on the tub was flaking. Shower worked fine. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed our chats with David, the night concierge. We loved our mini vacation in Chicago.

The reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was larger than we had anticipated and comprised a large and comfortable bed, sofa seating area, full kitchen and a small dining table. The location could not have been better, being just one block from the lakefront and two blocks from the John Hancock Tower. It is also 4 blocks from the 'L' train system on the red line, which takes you downtown and also direct to Wrigley Field in the other direction. There is a handy Deli and small supermarket directly opposite and numerous restaurants close by. Coffee is available in a lounge, which is open to residents all day and there is a laundry and fitness room on site. Tip for travelling from O'Hare airport - get the cta blue line train from the airport to Clark/Lake for $5pp and take an $8 cab from there. It's cheaper and faster than getting from the airport to DeWitt by taxi or shared transport if there are only 2 of you. Tip for attractions - we are not fans of zoo's but visited the Lincoln Park Zoo, which was a nice 2 mile flat walk North along the waterfront, and spent half a day there. The zoo is well laid out and managed and the animals look very well cared for. The zoo is also free to everyone.

Room Tip: The DeWitt has 10 floors and we would normally ask for a high floor to reduce possible noise from ou...

DeWitt Place was perfect for our stay in Chicago. It is located very near the John Hancock Tower, where the hop-on hop-off bus and CTA buses have convenient stops, and it is easy to walk to several places of interest, too. Our room and bath at DeWitt Place were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having a well-equipped kitchen of our own and having access to reasonably priced washers and dryers. While it is true that the little elevator is poky, there was no big problem. The capable staff is friendly and helpful with sightseeing advice. We would gladly stay again at DeWitt Place...but wouldn't want to shop at the convenience store across the street. DeWitt Place has reasonable prices, but the little store doesn't.

Room Tip: Our room on the third floor front made us feel like we were in a tree house...peaceful and above the...

Small apart-hotel right next to the Hanckok Tower. Inside the Gold Coast neighborhood, one of the best ones in Chicago. The room and kitchen are quit good, but the bathroom is old and very small. Also the room is quit noisy with the street and heat sound. If you are a light sleeper, you will probably need ear plugs. Everything else is quit good. Very recommendable for young couples with or without kids.

Room Tip: Highest as possible!

Great location, central with an acceptable noise-level inside-out and some nice complimentary services downstairs. Bathroom: Extremely small with no place to hang or store your stuff except inside a mirror-shelf. Bathtub/shower is small and worn out and scuffed. The condense water from the toilet collects on the floor and spills into the room. The A/C is for any reason mounted at the window just besides the headboard of the small double-bed and therefore can't be used during the sticky hot nights we experienced in Chicago, but let in all the noise from outside all night long. There is a ceiling fan which helps a bit. There seems to be a rule: no hooks! - to hang i.e. your wet coat after a typical Chicago-Thunderstorm. All kitchen-appliances are worn-out, too, and the sink has the same appearance as the bathtub. The whole suite was extremely dark as two of the three windows are across the close-by neighbouring building. We wouldn't recommend that place for a week-long stay for seniors who want to rest there during daytime.

Trip to Chicago for 4 nights and wanted to stay out of the hustle and bustle of some of the Hotels. I found DeWitt Place and loved it. Great staff, large room with kitchen and eating area. Wonderful STEAM BATH and good work out facility.
Close enough to everything but yet felt like you were away from all the hustle and bustle you sometimes want when on a business trip.
THANKS TO GREAT STAFF....

The hotel is just a couple minutes walk from Michigan Avenue (magnificent mile) and also the John Hancock observatory. Navy pier is not too far, we walked to it and it didnt take that long. There is a tourist info centre not too far and directly across from the front entrance there is a supermarket. It is pretty hard to tell there is a supermarket there as there are no signs or advertisements. The staff at DeWitt are second to none, very friendly and will go out of their way to help if they can. There is a very small gym with a sauna but i never saw anyone use it. There is also a longe with a tv and free coffee, very useful if you have checked out and need to kill an hour or two. The apartment themselves were good value for money, well equipped with large cooker, fridge freezer, micro, toaster, coffee maker, flatscreen tv, iron and hairdryer. There is also a safe in the room which you pay $1 a day for. The bathroom was very little and really needs upgrading - the shower wasnt very poweful and alternated between cold and very hot; the bath was tiny with no plug; the water didnt go down the sink hole very well so you were always left with horrible scum marks around the basin. We also noticed a rather unpleasant smell when we came out of the lift or came out of room onto the corridor, dont know what it was but it really wasnt nice. Apart from that the DeWitt is a great little place to stay which is not that expensive, if you can put up with the tiny bathroom then its fine.
