“great stay!!!”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

The service at the hotel was great. The staff were helpful and very informative!!! The room was clean and it was a good size room. The rooms were very quiet considering it was so close to the trains. The weekend at the hotel was worth it. I would reccomend anyone to stay here at the silversmith

The Silversmith is located at 10 S. Wabash and is a perfect location to stay at while going to a play at the Bank of America Theater. Within walking distance is not only the theater, (2 blocks), but many popular dining spots such as Millers Pub, (less than 2 blocks). A block to the East and you are on State Street where the shopping choices are excellent. It is an enjoyable brisk walk North to the Chicago River and the famous Michigan Avenue shopping district. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are decent size and the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

Located just steps from the el, it was convenient to everything. (The train just sounded like a faint rumble in the distance.) Staff were pleasant and helpful. There's a nice lounge area in the lobby to visit with friends who may also be in the area. The room was quiet and large.

We've been coming here for a couple of years and love the location... Museums, art galleries, restaurants, and concert halls are all within walking distance... Even for older couples like us. The staff are wonderfully informative about how and what there is to do in Chicago. And with Ada's just across from the elevators, meals are available regardless of the weather outside. We come back, not simply because the costs are very reasonable but because the staff treats us with a wonderfully friendly and cheerful demeanor every time we are there.

I had stayed at the Silversmith in October 2012 and I really liked it, so when I was planning a week in chicago with 3 girlfriends I suggested the Silversmith. the group could not have been more pleased!
the staff is friendly, efficient, and the ladies at the front desk helped us with day trips around the city.
the hotel is on the street which the "el" runs down and you enter into a small lobby. the doormen are very friendly and helpful. You take the elevator to a spacious lobby on the second floor, which is really nicely decorated in a Frank Lloyd Wright, prairie style. The furniture is strong, the lines simple and nice wood and very attractive. We enjoyed spending evenings in the lobby, they lit the fireplace for us, lovely jazz in the background, and citrus-infused water was available. we played some lively games of hearts, and most of the time had this grand area to ourselves.

the rooms were clean and quite spacious, with ceiling a bit taller, had a real nice feel. We had two rooms and each had a refrigerator, coffeemaker, window seats, and comfortable beds. the safe was on the floor of the closet , which made it had to access, so we did not use it.
it is a lovely hotel and the price was very reasonable. Will definitely stay there again, my friends kept raving about what a good hotel I had picked out!

Room Tip: i requested one of the top rooms near the back and we did not hear the train, "el"

The Silversmith Hotel and Suites was wonderful. The staff was so helpful, especially Enrique, who is the bell/doorman. Breakfast was included each day and was a full breakfast. (I found the Hotel on Groupon). The service was great in the restaurant. I found the hotel to be very clean, very quiet and loved the location. I would stay there again and will highly recommend the hotel to my friends and family. By the way, it's located on "Jewelers Row", so if you like jewelry you are in luck! After browsing the stores on the Magnificent Mile, you can return to the streets around the Silversmith where there is a wealth of affordable stores to shop in. It's in the Art district. The Art Institute is about 2 blocks away as is Millennium Park. Fantastic location. Union Station is about 8 blocks away. Cab fare less than $10.

Room Tip: We were on the 10th floor, which is the highest and faced the back of the hotel. Not a great view an...

We truly enjoyed our three nights at the Silversmith more than we have at any other Chicago hotel in the past. The staff are sincerely friendly and helpful, the location is convenient without being right in the middle of a crowd of shoppers, and it was nice and CLEAN, which is my number one requirement for a pleasant vacation. Stay here, but don't tell ALL your friends....I want to be able to book a room in the future. And ask Enrique for directions or to get you a cab; he'll get you there without making you feel like a tourist.
