Prices were outrageous. It felt like we had been robbed. They charged us $40 just for a parking spot!I have to say I'm being turned off of the holiday inn brand. We did not order the breakfast either due to prices. Insane.

Dear phoenixphlow,

Thank you for leaving a review and for allowing our Holiday Inn the opportunity to have you as a guest. We can completely understand how you felt with parking prices and have maintained our low prices to keep our guest happy. We have shopped the area but have found that it is the norm in the downtown Chicagoland area to charge for parking.

Again, my apologies and hope you will consider our hotel again in the near future.

Sincerely,

Nitin

The room was small compared to a Holiday Inn express we stayed at the night before. The bathroom was tiny, the bathroom door would not close, there was mold on the tile in the shower, and no ventilation in the bathroom, so when you took a shower, you came out to a fogged up bathroom.
The room lacked a refrigerator, or microwave, these come in handy when you have grand-kids
The restaurant staff where very friendly, as well as the front desk staff. The maître d' was very helpful in getting us taxis for various outings.

Room Tip: You have the Eisenhower Expressway that comes in by the hotel, if you want no road noise, I suggest...

Close to Union Station and the subway to O'Hare, The Sears/Willis Tower and the river, this was the ideal location for us coming off the Zephyr from San Francisco so see the sights of Chicago before flying out of USA.

We arrived at the Holiday Inn, West Harrison Street, Chicago following a very tiring Amtrak journey of 53 hours. Right from the start Sam (the Manager) made us feel very welcome and gave us suggestions for local take away food outlets. The room we stayed in was great - well maintained, spacious and clean. Good coffee/tea making facilities & free wi-fi on hand.
The next morning we wanted to do some sight seeing - the Concierge (Julio) was extremely helpful & informative. Not only did he organise tickets for our open topped bus tour but he also walked us round a short cut to the first bus stop to save us some time. Even though he was not on duty the next day when we left, he had arranged a taxi to take us to the airport.
If we come back to Chicago we would definitely stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending to others. Great Hotel & Great Staff.

Room Tip: We stayed in 518 - fairly quiet

Came to Chicago via Amtrak..walked three blocks and staying at one of the friendliest, cleanest Holiday Inns! Not in best part of town, but not bad and hotel is VERY clean, staff is great. Tommie helped us at front desk and was very helpful, and friendly (early check in). We walked a few blocks to water taxi, went to Navy Pier, came back to hotel after long day and decided to just eat here at Sunny's...Ryan was server, and he was very friendly also. Good dinner and each had a complementary wine. How nice! We have couple more nights here and we're glad we booked this hotel. Tip....if you come in on Amtrak, walk south on Clinton St. not Canal St. Canal goes under a street and it's a little dark & littered and has steps (not easy with luggage). Clinton St. is fine.

The staff were very nice, the restaurants was nice, the room and bathroom were nice but it really felt like my bed was in the middle of the highway! Soo much noise from the street that runs beside it!! If you are a very tight sleeper or you are used to this noise, it is not a bad place to stay at, but I did not sleep during the two nights I was there and it did ruin my stay a bit.

Dear Annick003,

Thank you for staying with us and for leaving a review about your stay. I apologize that your experience did not meet expectations due to the noise. In an ongoing effort to make our guest stay, we provide earplugs for the light sleeper but sometimes Chicago traffic can be a little bothersome. I will share your feedback with our ownership group.

Thank you once again for staying with us and for recognizing our staff and restaurant too.

This is the first time I stayed in this HI facility; the location is not bad if you need to be in downtown Chicago, the staffs were friendly, but the room was rather old for the money that I paid. The entire hotel needs some uplifting.
