We made reservations here through a Priceline "Name Your Own Price". I've stayed in many hotels in Chicago and this by far has been my favorite. It is centrally located and on the river. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the day we arrived to the day we checked out. The room was spacious and newly renovated. The bed was comfortable with a down duvet. The bathroom was big and the showers were warm. We would definitely return.

I stayed here Friday night, for one evening, and enjoyed it. The valet staff was great, especially since I had to enter and re-enter a few times after I first checked in. The front desk staff could not have been kinder. It's a fun environment in front of the hotel with House of Blues right there and the 10-Spin bowling place next door. The lounge when you first walked in looked pretty cool. The room I stayed in was great. Stylish. It was a great experience.

Very good location House of Blues right next door, Merchandise Mart within walking distance. Plenty of self park options available within 1 block. Art deco style rooms are okay, super comfortable beds and pillows. Awesome staff. Recommend the corned beef hash for breakfast on the room service menu only $14.00. Delivery to room fee is $6.00. Bath robes and in room bar are nice touch.
Drove into Chicago with my wife for a trade show at McCormick Place., it was a lot of work. We decided to treat ourselves to a nice weekend. So we and moved to a hotel closer to the Miracle mile.
Driving in downtown Chicago is a major pain in the butt; so we arrived tired and frustrated. At the registration desk we were greeted by J.C. who went out of his way to make sure our visit was memorable. He was very helpful and professional. The next day I remembered I had a Marriott rewards card and I asked Arial at the front desk to help me find the card she also went out of her way to make sure my stay was excellent. I don't know who the hotel Mgr. is but I think he knows his stuff based on the excellent service received. Last but not least the valet attendant was great.
Things I would change: In -room coffee self service system is tacky, robes need fabric softener, room should have a couple of extra pillows stashed away somewhere. charging $18.00 bucks for internet should be reduced to $5.00 -&8.00 max. ideally included with stay.
Paying for parking and internet almost made me pass on choosing this hotel, location and service will bring me back and is why I wrote this novel.

Room Tip: For service above and beyond the call of duty ask for J.c. or Ariel. pays to talk to the valet atte...

This is my second time at Hotel Chicago and although it recently, changed hands (now a Marriott) the service remain exemplary. Edward the doorman in particular went out of his way to be helpful and attentive from the moment I arrived until he hailed me a car for the trip to the airport. Highly recommended.

I arrived on a Tuesday for a midweek business trip. Stayed two nights. The first issue was the cab driver finding the hotel. As others have mentioned, you need to reference Hotel Sax or House of Blues to make sure you get to the the right location. That said, the location is very good. There is lots of activity within walking distance of the hotels - dining, drinking, etc...

The hotel itself is not too bad. The decor is funky and bit modern. My room was on the 9th room. It was fairly spacious. Also, thanks to good windows, there was a very limited amount of noise from the street. The bathroom was quite large with a nice marble topped sink area. The bed was fine, but the pillows were small. Not sure why...

Overall, my experience was good. The other Marriotts around there were full on those days so I can't comment as to a price comparison.

This is the former Sax Hotel and it was just renamed in February 2014. Many of the cab drivers do not know where to go unless you say "Sax Hotel" or "House of Blues Hotel". The three of us stayed for three nights over a weekend and found the hotel to be extremely quiet. Very little noise from the street as our room faced Kinzie Street. The hotel address is listed as Dearborn, but you actually enter from State Street.

The room had two double beds that were very comfortable. The bathroom was huge as well. The décor seems a bit dated but all in all it was a great value. The location is near many restaurants, Harry Carry's, Weber Grill Restaurant, Rock Bottom Brewery and is convenient to walking to the shopping on State Street.

You also have two key cards. One is for the elevator while the other is for your room.

It can be a bit of a hike to the Miracle Mile, but cab far from the hotel to the Hancock Building will run you about $7 one way.

They do put a $100 hold on your credit card when you check in and release it the day after you leave for incidentals.

The room was always cleaned daily while we were out. Never saw any of the housekeeping staff but they do a great job.

The exercise room has four treadmills, a stair climber and a bike along with weights. It's small but never was crowded.

There is a bar just off the very small lobby area but there was never anyone in it.

Room Tip: Our room on the Kinzie Street side was very quiet.

You couldn't ask for a better location for a hotel its right in the heart of the need to be places downtown.(right off Michigan Ave, and close to great dinning, and nightlife (Hubbard Street), the beds are comfortable, and the staff is friendly. That's about all I can say that's good about this hotel. They charge you $18 a day for internet, the sheets don't fit on the bed (on king bed), if you get a room below the 7th floor the rooms are barley big enough for you and your suitcase and darker then a cave, TV's are from old and very outdated.

For the price you pay for this hotel you can stay at many better hotels in Chicago, IE Wyndham, Hard-Rock, or other new up-dated Marriot properties.
