“Great Hotel and Staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

We just returned from our trip to Chicago visiting our son. He had recently moved to Lincoln Park and we wanted a hotel close to his new apartment. We normally stay on the Magnificant Mile in a chain hotel. Before I booked our room at The Willow, I read the reviews and was impressed with the comments. I completely agree, the entire staff was so friendly and helpful, especially Ricky and Adriain! The Willow is a quaint, clean, neighborhood hotel and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to save a little money, and be in the heart of shopping and restaruants. It may not be fancy like some of the other chain hotels, but the staff and the accommodations are worth it!

Lisa Z.

Room Tip: We stayed in the smaller Queen size room, a little small, no desk but it was acceptable.

Average hotel on the outskirts of Chicago but is in a lovely tree-lined road, away from all the hussle of the city centre. Right on a bus route and the metro system which takes you straight into the city, and a travel pass is brilliant. We had a 3 day pass for $15 each but that is unlimited travel on the trains and buses. Bought at the airport on arrival we got our travel to the hotel area included, and the transport links are very good.
Back to the hotel-very friendly staff, clean room but is starting to look tired. Breakfast is provided but it is more of an after thought to the facilities, as you eat in the hotel foyer. However saying all this it provided what we needed and was set in a good location if you didnt want to be in the city centre.

Nothing but great things to say about the Willows. Helpful and friendly staff. Very comfortable room-loved the pillows and robes. In a great neighborhood on a tree lined street but close to all public transportation. Breakfast included and I would rate above average for continental(real china and coffee mugs).I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Chicago!
PS: mini bar prices are most reasonable!

My son lives in the area, and I stay at the Willows regularly. The staff are great...Ricky the bellman is happy and helpful, as is Adrian at the front desk. Rooms are clean and spacious. I usually get a suite, so I have a separate TV room and plenty of space to wind down after a big shopping day. The rooms are QUIET!

Great small hotel that has quick access to transportation and great location on north side. The included breakfast was adequate and staff was extremely helpful. The rooms were quite nice and very clean. We will definitely stay here on our next trip. Can't say enough about the friendly and helpful staff.

This is a quaint hotel in a great neighborhood. This is nothing like a typical chain hotel, but a great little hotel nonetheless. This hotel is located smack dab in the center of a nice residential area. Very close to cute cafes, coffee places, restaurants, book stores. It also had a TJ Maxx around the corner, which was just fine by me.

Upon our first check-in, we were located over the hotel lobby which was somewhat loud. However, after a call to the front desk, a swift change was granted. The rooms are very small, BUT very clean and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was decorated in an old style charm. I also liked the toiletries provided and the soft robes located in the closet. The continental breakfast was nice, and the staff and bellman were very friendly. Everyone at the hotel gave great suggestions about places to eat, directions, etc...

I'd say my one hesitation was that the hotel seemed to be somewhat noisy. Even after we were moved, I kept hearing doors slam, loud noises of people walking in the hallway, etc. I think that is due to the "older" nature of the hotel. Keep in mind, the rooms are not equipped with central air, but each room had a window unit. That was fine with me, as we were there in September and the weather was fairly mild.

Bottom line, the location of the neighborhood is very close to a bus stop and a few blocks down from the local CTA station. It isn't in the "downtown area" near lake Michigan, so please know that. This is in the Lincoln Park area. Again, this didn't bother us as we could just take a bus downtown, but I really enjoyed the area that the hotel was in. I would stay here again for sure.

The hotel is equipped with free Wifi also which is a great perk!

Room Tip: Rooms over the lobby are rather loud as you can hear almost everything. Also avoid rooms by the sta...

We were assisted with directions, resturants, baggage, etc. Very friendly staff. Ricky, the bellman, was a pleasure to talk to. Breakfast was nice. The location seemed like a residential area which was pleasant. Overall, a good experience.
