Clean, well maintained and safe. in very trendy GLU type urban neighborhood at Clark and Diversy. older building with horizontal rooms? flat screen TVS. Extra for parking garage around the corner, with unlimited in/out privileges. second stay...first on business a few years ago! This time with wife and kids.

A little hard to find but worth the effort. A nice spacious comfortable room, not elegant but more than adequate. Although we did not use the mini-bar, I was pleased to see that the snack and drink prices were very reasonable by hotel standards. One small drawback, the parking, although reasonably priced for a Chicago hotel, was inconvenient.

The front desk staff were efficient, friendly and helpful.
The room was very comfortable and quiet (great beds)
Good bus service is appx five minutes walk from the hotel. We did not find many good restaurants nearby. Our time was limited so we had a good lunch downtown and snacked in a cafe in the evening. The hotel breakfast was varied and plentiful.
I cannot think of anything to dislike about The Willows Hotel

Were in town for Oprah's last show and stayed one night. Chose this hotel because it came up as being in close proximity to the studio (3 miles). It's actually 6 miles away. Was difficult getting taxi, although front desk said one would be by quickly, we had to walk down to nearest busier street to hail one. Historic hotel that has been updated. So decor is fine but uneven floors, very small elevator, and tiny bathroom are to be expected I guess. Bathroom had pedestal sink and no counter space at all for two women to get ready, so that was difficult. Bed and desk area were so close together that you couldn't get through if someone was sitting at the desk - I had to roll over the bed to get to the bathroom. Undesirable view out the windows (room #408). Staff was friendly and helpful and breakfast bar was more than adequate. Choc. chip cookies in afternoon were delicious.

We stayed in this hotel for 3nights in the month of March2011 and it is a beautiful heritage hotel in a quiet surroundings.we arrived at 7am and we were invited with a smile by Mr.Adrian at front desk.2 double bed room is very comfortable, furniture is made up of carved wooden antique pieces.Even chandelier is nice .everything looked like old Maharaja style, including pillow covers.Conveniently located all around many bus stops and restaurants available.Especially the CTA bus no 151 is very useful to reach almost all important sight seeing places in Chicago.Good continental breakfast,24hrs free coffee in the lobby, evening served excellent cookies.Front desk people are very helpful.Very economical price 100% value for money. Lift is present.

We decided to stay at the Willows because the reviews were good, it was in an area we wanted to be in and the price was great (through Booking.com). The hotel is in the Lincoln Park/Lakewood area and is near many restaurants and shopping in addition to Lincoln Park Zoo and the beach.

We were upgraded to a Junior Suite. The bedroom was a decent size with a king bed (I especially liked the linens…very white and double sheeted) a nightstand and lamp on each side of the bed, a flat screen TV, a desk, a very small bureau and a closet. The sitting room had a fully stocked refrigerator (at reasonable prices), another TV, two comfortable chairs with a table and lamp between them. The bathroom was past the sitting room. It was very small and poorly laid out. In order to stand at the sink you really needed to close the door, which made it seem even more claustrophobic. Still, the bathroom had a tub/shower combo with good water pressure.

What really makes this hotel special was the staff. Each employee seemed dedicated to making me happy. They were always helpful and there were enough of them so I never needed to wait long for attention.

Cookies are served everyday from 4-6 and they are good!.

We were on the third floor (there are 4 floors total) and the room was quiet.

The continental breakfast exceeded my expectations. Along with coffee, tea, decaf, orange juice, they offered bagels, pastries, muffins, yoghurts, fruit cups, apples, dry cereal, assorted flavors of hot oatmeal, and Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. Nothing was home made, but everything was fresh.

The hotel offers free entry into a nearby gym. Parking is either $17/day or $22/in-out privileges. We were lucky; we stayed for three nights and only had to purchase parking one night, the other two days we were able to find street parking. Still, even if you pay, it is far less than downtown Chicago prices.

Room Tip: The smallest room is extremely small.Go up one.

My wife and I stayed at the Willows Thursday-Saturday while visiting our daughter who lives in the neighborhood. Older small Euro style hotel. Cozy little lobby with a fireplace and front desk with a friendly and helpful staff that knows the hospitality business as well as the neighborhood. Very reasonably priced. We paid $595.19 for three nights, including parking, all taxes, and several things from the well stocked and VERY reasonably priced mini-fridge and snack tray. Clean, comfortable, and very well kept, even if a little frayed around the edges. Will definitely stay there again. We loved the neighborhood, but don't believe the "couple blocks walk to the lake," it's much farther than that. But there are numerous eating and drinking establishments within a block or two on Broadway, Clark, and Diversey, as well as small shops, theaters, etc.
I'd sure like to find a place just like this in Boston.
