“Great location”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The location couldn't be beat, next to the L, which made getting to and from the airport a breeze. We checked in early, and they were able to accommodate us. Room was a nice size, very clean, and we even had a partial view of the river. Would definitely stay here again, and have recommended it to family and friends.

Loved staying at the Renaissance Chicago Hotel. I enjoyed a comfortable, quiet end suite overlooking the Chicago River. The room was clean, enjoyable, relaxing and a great respite and vacation experience.
The Hotel Bellman was the best resource; a real 'gem,' considerate and extremely professional. I was treated like Royalty!

This hotel is very nice and has a great location. Close to the theaters and Michigan Avenue. Some rooms also have a lovely view of the river. We were very pleased with every area we visited in the hotel. We also enjoyed a very good breakfast. We will definitely stay here again.

Thank you for the kind words, I will pass your compliments on to the Chef! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and we have a lovely breakfast buffet with a panoramic view of the city in Great Street! We can’t wait to welcome you back.

My second visit here, this time as a gold elite, which adds all the bells and whistles needed for a comfortable stay, superb room, just a generally all round pleasant experience. Walking distance to many restaurants and other requirements, subway, and shops.

Beautiful hotel well located on the river. Staff members are effective/efficient, and managers maintain a noticeable presence. Rooms on the river side are best: they're quiet and boast a great, iconic view. (Rooms on other sides of the hotel may have noise issues.) Excellent fitness center and pool (but no hot tub). Club lounge is nice but not outstanding. On the whole, my stay was outstanding.

Room Tip: River side.

This is our first time staying at the Renaissance and we stayed here over Spring Break and it was great. We wanted to stay at the Renaissance both nights but it was full so we were forced to stay at Fairfield Inn. Fairfield Inn was horrible so we called the Renaissance late that night and they were able to get us an early check in at 10am the next day. The front desk was great and we got a corner room with a city view. We are Marriott Rewards members so used points and were very happy. Room was spacious, and clean and the bathroom big as well. The bed was very comfortable and we had a couple chairs with a side table and then desk/chair. The front desk, concierge, valet and security people were great. I left my phone charger in the room that morning we checked out and came back for it in the evening. The security guy couldn't get a hold of current occupant so brought up a box of chargers left by patrons and told me to pick any charger I want. I was very grateful since we were on vacation and I needed my phone. The valet guy was great because my friend was visiting for an hour and she didn't want to pay the rate of $65/hour for parking so he let her park her car in front of hotel with just a small tip. We used to live in Chicago so I'm an expert on good locations for hotels and this is perfect. It's on the river in the loop and Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier, Millenium Park and the Acquarium are all in walking distance. We took bus to zoo and "L" Train to Wrigley Field but otherwise walked everywhere including lots of great restaurants nearby-I'd recommend Paris Club, Rosebuds on Rush and L'Appetito Deli for lunch. I liked that there was a nice restaurant/bar in lobby as well as a café for coffee and snacks. The lobby was really nice with lots of areas full of chairs/tables to hang out and talk. We didn't use the pool but it looked nice. We come to Chicago at least once a year for vacation and plan on staying at The Renaissance from now on. We've stayed at Ritz, Four Seasons, Park Hyatt and Hard Rock Hotels in past but this is great spot for the value. I'd give it a 4 1/2 stars.

Room Tip: The rooms with a corner river view are the best.

Great location in the mist of shopping, food and entertainment! Spacious rooms, large bathroom and comfortable beds. Bellman was eager to assist and other staff members were just as helpful. Welcoming ambience with a nice bar and restaurant within. Found myself fixed in the window enjoying the city lights and architecture. Located in the theater district along with many more forms of entertainment. I must say, we had a BLAST!

Room Tip: Walking distance from Chicago, Oriental, The Goodman and Cadillac Theater. Walk across the bridge fo...
