We stayed for one night at this hotel and used Marriott Rewards points. From the moment we arrived to when we left, we were impressed by the quality. As you expect with Renaissance, the lobby, bar and rooms were clean, modern and upscale. There was not a lot of vanity space in the bathroom but everything was in excellent condition. The bed was comfortable, although they had the trendy "luxury" pillows where your head sinks straight down to the mattress. Our room on the 14th floor overlooking the river was perfect. The staff service was fabulous. We were even able to borrow an umbrella to walk down to Harry Carey's (only 3 blocks across the river) in the rain. In the morning we enjoyed a wonderful complimentary breakfast on the 26th floor with plenty of options and a large seating area.

Room Tip: Go high and get a river view.

Had a great time with friends. Great atmosphere, great crowd, and had a blast surrounded by a bunch of folks having a great time. As a PlatniumElite member with marriott, the renaissance hotel exceeded my expectations. Not to mention, wife happy with the aveda products.

We stayed at this place for a conference for a few days and have mostly positive things to say about it. The location is perfect, right in the midst of downtown Chicago and seemingly nothing we wanted to do or see was more than a 20 minute walk away at the most. There are no mini-bars in the rooms, but we requested a refrigerator and it was brought quickly.

The room was spacious and clean, and also quiet. There was an iron and ironing board in the closet as expected, and a hair dryer in the bathroom. We had room service the first night and it was fast and good.
We spent a lot of time at the concierge desk asking various questions and they were all very helpful.

Really my only complaint is nearly the same as always - insufficient wifi in the room. In the lobby wifi is free, but in the rooms you must pay. That is fine, however, I couldn't even get a signal in the room. It is maddening in this day and age, particularly when you can get wifi virtually everywhere in Chicago, that you can't get it in your room.

My only other slight gripe was that I thought the hotel cost was excessive, but that is a similar complaint I have worldwide in bigger cities. If I hadn't needed conference furnished accommodation, I would have opted for one of the less expensive hotels in the city. I cannot comment on breakfast as we didn't eat it, nor use the pool or exercise facilities.

Everything about the Renaissance Chicago is top notch. The valets are sharp and professional. The check in is quick and efficient, the staff were all very helpful. The rooms were very well apportioned and comfortable. Great dining and entertainment is within walking distance.

Brad, a most welcoming bartender, was the only person who went out of his way to thank us for staying at the hotel and make us feel like special guests! Thank you, Brad. Our room on the 18th floor had a less than desirable view, no robes, inconsistent turn-down service and best of all no power in the bathroom ; (two times)we shorted out the lights using the hair dryer and iron-who knew? Needless to say this caused great angst in trying to get ready for a wedding on Saturday night! The front desk takes a lonnnng time to answer the phone, yikes! To top off the night, our floor was privileged to hear some guests having a very loud fight in the hall at 1AM and then again at 3AM. It took several attempts to reach the front desk. The folks on the front line could use a little more personality and warmth. Staying in a nice hotel used to be a treat! Marriott is losing their brand...You can do better. And I never complain!!

I stayed just one night on a business trip so I couldn't use the gim nor other facilities, but everithing looked great and very well presented.

may be the price is a bit high for what you get, but it's a very high standard.

The Renaissance offers river view room , the rooms are good , if you are a member eleite the lounge is great too and offers breakfast , snacks and dinner . There is an indoor pool with a steam room and a nice gym too.
Another positive point is that the staff is extremely friendly apart from one at the lounge in the evening but the rest makes you feel at home .
Finally the location is great , river in front you , the theatres next block on the right and easy walking distance into the city .
Also there is a Hertz rent a car office just accross the bridge (mns), very handy if you wish to drive out Chicago as we did .
I shall recommend this hotel.
