Was a bit leery after reading reviews but couldn't beat the price overall so went for it. The location was great for walking to major venues, everyone was friendly, the room was clean, things worked, bed was comfy, area was large enough with the necessaties and no added frills which was fine for me. It was a place to come back to to sleep, get ready in the morning and go out for the day. It is not a "modern" hotel - it is an older building made into a hotel - but had everything you needed if all you were looking for is "home base". There is a Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts right across the street and a couple of cafes close by for breakfast so breakfast not included is no big deal. Would stay again. Rather spend my money on fun and food then a place to sleep.

Thank you for allowing us to be your home base. We have a great location, not only for restaurants, coffee, and popcorn (you can’t forget Garrett’s is right across the street), but we are within easy walking distance of Chicago’s favorite attractions.

The Red Roof Inn will continue to offer a great value for those who would rather spend their money on fun, so I look forward to your return.

Location near Michigan Avenue is the biggest plus point of this hotel. Other things- room size, bathroom, service, bed and amenities are average. No breakfast. Pricey considering the amenities but one is basically paying for the locational advantage.

We stayed here on recent trip for kids sporting event. It was very convenient to the venue and the staff was friendly but that was about it. The rooms are very small, there’s really no lobby to gather in and the property is in serious need of a major makeover. Tired would be a good descriptor. The tub would not drain on the first morn and we had a little gathering of gnats and was told that the maintenance staff did not get in till 10:00am. Overall the staff tries but they don’t have much to work with. But the location is great.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I sincerely apologize your stay was not an entirely pleasant one. Our hotel is located in an historic building constructed nearly 100 years ago. Back then the size of a room was not an important factor. A standard double room usually had two twin beds instead of two full size beds. Travelers today expect at least a full size bed, if not larger. We do offer larger deluxe double or deluxe king rooms at a slightly higher rate which not only have more square footage, but also have a work desk and chair, a micro fridge, and a lounge chair. All of our rooms are equipped with flat screen TVs, upgraded cable television offerings, iron and ironing boards, a coffee maker, and free wifi.

I do apologize you experienced some maintenance issues during your stay. We conduct routine preventive maintenance, and I am very sorry the slow draining tub was not addressed prior to your arrival. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention so we can prevent this from happening in the future.

My sister and I stayed Fri & Sat nights June 21 & 22. The hotel was very busy we could not get a room with 2 double beds. The location of the hotel is perfect but it lacks any frills. There is no counter at all in the bathroom. There is no closet, the iron & ironing board, which is a plus, is hanging on the wall. The chest of drawers looks like it came from a college dorm & the only chair is the desk chair. That being said we would stay there again. The front desk staff is great. Brenda directed us to a great restaurant and the two guys working afternoons were very friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage after to check out. The hotel is clean if a lttle tired.

The staff at the Red Roof was very pleasant. The room was clean, and I was very impressed at the location. Considering the rooms are about $200, you can't go wrong.

I had originally booked a standard suite for my girlfriends 21st birthday. However, after the man at the desk (David) heard that I'd come all the way from New York to celebrate in Chicago for the night, he upgraded us to a deluxe suite. After checking out, the staff was happy to store our luggage in a secure closet while we went out on the town for the afternoon.

Overall great experience.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better views of the Downtown area.

I appreciate you taking time to write a review. I am glad we could make your girlfriend’s birthday celebration even more special. Guests are always welcome to check in early if there are rooms available. If not, we are happy to store your bags, so you can go out and enjoy our wonderful city. The same is true when you depart.

I hope to see you again on your girlfriend’s 22nd birthday! Folks from the Big Apple are always welcome at the Red Roof Inn in the Windy City.
