“Always A Pleasure!”

Just spent three nights at the hotel. Staff super friendly and attentive. Dinner at Michael Jordan's Steakhouse was superb! Location is the best. We always try to stay in the historic tower. Can't wait to return. Busy hotel but never disappoints. Don't miss the gingerbread house on display in the lobby. Made by hotel chef and most impressive.

I was there for a conference. The check in was fast and easy. The hotel is located on the magnificent mile so it was near almost everything. I ate at Michael Jordan"s restaurant which is in the hotel. Had a burger that was special and the fries had a wonderful taste. The hotel is beautiful and very clean and the service was great. I also enjoyed some of Garrett's popcorn it is the best.

I don't know of another hotel that is smack in the middle of all the action. This InterContinental is right on North Michigan Ave. All others are off the main drag by a few meters or many. This to me and my family is important. You exit the hotel front lobby and are swept away with the hustle of the city. We stayed in the Historic wing of the hotel which has slightly larger rooms and great history. The other side which is left of the lobby is newer but naturally a hair smaller rooms and a very cool carpet scheme in the hallways. I first thought someone had pored bleach down the hall but that's the design. The rooms where clean, fresh and lots of high-end amenities in the washrooms. Now lets talk breakfast. A few years back we enjoyed the breakfast in the older part of the hotel which is now occupied by Michael Jordan's Steakhouse. That is all fine and well but I miss the natural light of the windows it once had overlooking Michigan Ave. Now breakfast is in the new part of the hotel without as much light. There are windows on the north side but they overlook a side street. The draft coming out of the ceiling didn't allow me to enjoy the little light and view available so I moved to a regular table. The food was Excellent, very nice choices and was warmly welcomed and promptly attended to by Dinka and professionally served by Tony. Greetings to them and thank you for your hospitality. See you again very soon........

Room Tip: Old wing for history and new wing for coolness. Don't miss the pool area and the chandelier in...

We spent a Friday night here on a girls weekend getaway and if you're getting a room with 2 double beds, please know these beds are more like Full size beds than Queen size. If you're sharing a bed with someone, make sure you're comfy enough with each other to be in a smaller bed.

They only provided 2 washcloths in the room, which was odd. Calling for more took a while so one of us just ended up using a hand towel :-/
Also, it is difficult to turn the shower on - it feels like you're going to break it but just use muscle.

The hotel and room are clean and comfortable. Beautifully decorated. Great location - in the heart of the shopping area and only a couple blocks from the John Hancock building.

Everything was great at this hotel! Came for fun on Michigan Avenue, and was surpised on what a cool place the Intercontinental is, kind of a hidden treasure. Amazing building and history. What was even more impressive was the staff, particularly Britta Lohmeyer. She overheard us talking, and ended up taking us on a mini-tour of this impressive hotel. She was great, and the pool on the 12th floor was "over the top"! Supurb location on Michigan avenue. I will choose the Intercontinental again.

My spin on this place is based on rooms in the historic tower. The overall facility is a beautiful old world feel masterpiece. Great location and very nice lobby etc. The old rooms are a little small but all in all fine. The bathrooms are a little tired but adequate. We really liked it and with old stone walls it is quiet in the guest rooms and I love that. Beds and linens are very nice. The bar which is in the facility and is part of Michael Jordan Steak House is a great cocktail lounge. Worth your time for a drink. The wine bar is spectacular and a with great service and fun and interesting wine choices. All in all quite a nice stay.

We had previously arranged to rent a penthouse condo for five days in downtown Chicago but learned at the last moment that the property had sustained some damage and could not be occupied. So with little notice we alternatively booked two rooms at the Intercontinental through Hotwire at a very good rate. What a good choice! Efficient valet service, quick check-in, comfortable and well equipped rooms, great on-site restaurants, etc. Hotel location on Michigan Ave is superb; walking distance to shopping, eating and local scene highlights. Only negative is downtown Chicago parking is predictably outrageous so it's best to find alternatives.

Room Tip: Higher floor rooms reduce street noise
