My husband and I recently stayed here for our 1st anniversary. I am a priority club member and was instantly upgraded to a penthouse suite. Thank you Patrick! ! Upon arrival to our room, there was a bottle of champs for for a celebration toast. the view was great from the 26th floor, the room was spotless. When visitiing the concierge "Robert Ramos" , we requested a nice Italian restuarant. He gave us several options and it was spectacular ! We dined at Piccolo Sogno and had great service and food. I am a NYC girl and I found Chicago a bit boring for my taste but we had a wonderful stay at the hotel. There is a little wine and cheese bar connected to it for an drink afterwards and worth a visit. Parking is very pricey $ 57.00 . Breakfast was very good. Starbucks in the lobby. Great Staff at the hotel. Thank you .

Room Tip: Become a Priority club member and enjoy the perks!

This was a great hotel and the service was great. The staff was very willing and able to help in any way they could. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. The decor was very nice and had nice touch's with the King Arthur theme. It was also located in a good location and close to a lot of local thing to do.

This was my first time at this hotel and I was very impressed by the rooms! Small and cosy but just the right size. The staff are very friendly and professional and eager to help you at every point. The only downside to this hotel is the serious lack of seating in the lobby, and the fact that the hotel doors do slam rather loudly (especially when the maids are cleaning rooms next door and don't shut the door, just let it slam)

This property offers a great combination of location and room quality. While the hotel is older, the rooms have been upgraded and you will find your stay totally comfortable. The rooms are clean and well appointed. The staff is fabulous. If you are looking for a hotel where you can enjoy Chicago by foot, this should definitely be on your short list.

This is one of Chicago’s five or so principal hotels, centrally located on Michigan Avenue with a Nordstrom-anchored mini shopping mall with a food court directly opposite. There is a first rate Starbucks on the ground floor, together with a Michael Jordan’s steakhouse with a bar at street level and a restaurant one floor up, both serving excellent steaks from broadly the same menu.
We came in from O’Hare airport by SUV from GO Airport Express – in some ways a better option than the regular van service they run as it’s a direct service to your hotel and we were laden with luggage. The SUVs are run by a sub-contractor and booked through the GO Airport Express web-site – we found them to be on time, very helpful, and cheaper than a similar service booked through the hotel.
The hotel is in two interconnected neighbouring buildings, an historic tower with wonderful architecture and a recently refurbished smaller building. We were initially offered a room in the refurbished wing – and it was beautifully modern – all but for the extremely loud air-conditioning, which appeared to be the original hardware albeit with modern electronic controls. The front desk were brilliant and quickly assigned us to a lovely room in the older tower, which was very nicely laid out, with a little more space and a quiet efficient air-conditioning set-up. It was quiet and all the housekeeping of a very high standard.
The Concierge and her deputy (a young lady who turned out to be a Chicago Cubs expert and helped us with advice regarding visits to Wrigley Field) were both outstandingly helpful. We took a three day metro/bus pass which gave us a very quick way to run north and south up the city – Chicago being long and thin this helps, though we found taxis to be plentiful and inexpensive in the city area.
The breakfast buffet was good, though we encountered some problems on the day we left as the requirements of a corporate group forced the breakfast service to be closed prematurely. A huge nuisance, and probably the wrong call by a junior manager, but the only serious problem in an otherwise excellent stay.
This is a truly grand hotel, with a “can do” attitude, well positioned and interesting in itself.

Stayed two nights while visiting the University of Chicago, who picked up the tab (so, cannot comment on value-for-money). Nice rooms, well-maintained, everything works. Brilliant pool (not free). Good breakfast (with good service), if in rather crowded restaurant. Two complaints which are not a big deal, though worth making given hotel's status (and high Trip Advisor rating): on arriving, after 10 hour flight and 2 hours queueing through Immigration, had to wait 10-15 minutes to check in - only one person on desk (this was at 7pm on a Monday evening) and a line of people waiting to check in, clearly fed up with the wait; and, on leaving, went to main exit (on Michigan Ave), told porter I was waiting for booked limo ride at 10 am; waited till 10.30 (NB: there is, strangely, no seating in the hotel lobby, so waiting is hardly comfortable), then went back to main desk where it finally dawned on someone to tell me that limo's pull up at the side door, where mine had been waiting for half an hour. So, got to know the hotel lobby pretty well.
