Over the years, I have attended conventions and charity functions held at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, and this past Mother's Day weekend, my wife and stayed there to celebrate Mother's Day. We had a room in the West tower on the 25th floor facing the office building next door to the hotel. Not much of a view, could see a bit of the Aqua Building, and a very small slice of the lake. If staying here, ask for a room with a north or east facing window, a much nicer view. We had lunch at Eataly Chicago a two story Italian delicacy and wine shopping center with 7 restaurants, nearby, and dinner at Kinsey Chophouse. We walked to Eataly Chicago, but took a cab to Kinsey Chophouse so we would not be late.
We have always liked this hotel's location because it is across the Chicago River from the Magnificent Mile, a great stretch of Michigan Avenue from the river to the Water Tower that has the best stores in the city, and it is just a few blocks from Millennium Park, the theaters of Downtown, and just about anything else you would want to see is within walking distance, if you don't mind walking a mile or so in the nicer weather. They had a convention coming in the day after Mother's Day, so it was getting busy. We ate at the first floor restaurant for breakfast buffet, and it was really good, though a bit pricey, but it was Mother's Day.

Room Tip: Try to get a room looking East or North across the river

Stayed here for a conference in early May. The site has two towers - an east and west. Most of the amenities....major front desk, restaurants, convenience store...are located in the east tower. The west tower is just fine and there is a skyway on the 2nd floor that connects the two. Getting to the conference site from the east tower takes all of a few minutes, depending on speed of the elevators.

Location is terrific. We could see the Wrigley building from our meeting room across the street. Easy to get bus/boat tours, shopping, restaurants.

We did have breakfast - about 30-40 bucks but the buffet is quite large. For cheaper, hop across the street to the Corner Bakery Cafe.

Business Center - they charge. Like any city hotel, you are nickel and dimed for everything...internet in your room, accessing the business center, etc. Parking rates are atrocious...just take a cab from the airports.

There are a lot of places to stay in Chicago, but I've always been happy when I stayed here...it's functional, clean, friendly, and convenient. Would stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised by how not only was the hotel in great condition, it was right on the river, the front desk staff was on top of it and helped me right away, and every staff member I met was a delight. My room had an incredible view of the river and was very nice and modern. Overall, great stay.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that has a view of the river if possible.

This is a beautiful hotel that's centrally located in walking distance to a lot of major Chicago attractions. Overall the customer service I received here was amazing. Everyone was extremely friendly. My only complaint was that the housekeepers failed to leave wash cloths after they cleaned my room!

The Good: Service was excellent and staff were all helpful! Great Location. The Bad: My room was pretty dark. Internet access is expensive. Cell phone coverage was pretty poor. SLOW elevators. Bad bathroom design, no counter space and toilet paper location was ridiculous.
